Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
You're right - they're shorter and fatter. But they're also in France. MoMA's version has the advantage of actually being available to purchase easily.

Those are knockoffs of the MoMA's "Hug" Salt and Pepper Shakers. Theirs only come in black and white.
The Hug shakers are famous and have won many awards. Worry no more - you can get them right here in New York!

Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
I'd love to see that old video. When will you post it on Serious Eats?

Wendy's Closes Its Original Restaurant
Me too - the standard COSI kid field trip always ended in a trip to Wendy's across the street. They point to COSI's relocation as a key reason why that location's business dropped off. It makes sense - most of that area of downtown Columbus has been gutted in the last decade, so I can understand why there aren't many customers anymore.
But still... it's historic. A Dispatch editorial suggested turning it into a museum - that seems appropriate, although a Wendy's museum would be far more effective if you could get a sandwich at the end.
Wendy's Closes Its Original Restaurant
Having eaten in that location regularly throughout my childhood in Columbus, this is a great tragedy. They had already converted half of it into a Tim Horton's a few years back - but this is far worse.
Here's the Columbus Dispatch article.
Over the years, there was never much attention drawn to it. I think the only indication that it was the first Wendy's was a small plaque hung on the wall inside. But every resident of Columbus knew, and would brag about it to out-of-town visitors whenever possible.
"That's the first Wendy's ever, you know."
"Right there?"
"Yeah."
"No way."
Now Columbus is losing one of the greatest things it could brag about to snobby New Yorkers. It's a shame.
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
@JH: Yeah. I've since found them here in NYC!
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
Street vendors in New York sell them as well. I think the last time I saw them was in the Upper West Side... around 72nd and Broadway.

You can also find them at hug-salt-pepper.com as well. I order 11 colors from them! so cute. I look at them every morning to cheer myself up :)
Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
Luther- thank you for the heads up on finding regularly-pasteurized organic milk. My eleven-year-old noticed the cooked taste of the brand I was buying. I figured that since all the labels in my market read "ultra-pasteurized" that was the culprit. I'll check out Trader Joe's. thx thx thx
Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
At most supermarkets around here (the Boston area), the only organic milk available is ultra-pasteurized. Ultra-pasteurized milk has a gross, sweetish, spoiled flavor that is unavoidable. If you can get your hands on some mass-market, regular-pasteurized organic milk (e.g. the house brand at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods), I think it's always better than the mass-market regular stuff.
Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
I think you need to redo that taste test with a variety of organic milks. They are not all created equal. The decision to buy organic milk hinges more on the fact that it is a healthier option. Taste is a secondary factor but I am happy to report that the organic milk we drink is tastier.
Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
A couple times that I've bought organic milk, it had a strong...smokey flavor. Something very off. I thought it was just in one batch, but I repeated the experience and haven't touched the stuff since.
Organic Milk, Schmorganic Milk: How Does It Taste?
I love organic milk. I used to be a whole milk kinda gal but have slowly allowed myself to try cutbacks on my fat intake. I'm now down to 1% and am not missing the fat at all. Organic 1% seems more full-bodied and milk-like than the non-organic stuff. Plus I've found that it lasts longer--like at least a couple of weeks longer--than the non-organic stuff.

You can also order them here, in b&w.

With nothing else to do while eating my salad for lunch - I started browsing. I found these -

Red & white, not black & white, but I could not find the range of colors that Robyn shows in my limited search.
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
Adorable!! I've never seen 'em anywhere.
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
true. you've got me there, marco.
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
Hmm. Having just visited the MoMA site, I kinda think these knockoffs are cuter. Vive la France!
Cute Salt and Pepper Shakers
Thanks, Marco. I've been to the MoMA store several times and have somehow managed to miss them. I guess I should pay less attention to the Muji crap there next time.
Wendy's Closes Its Original Restaurant
I'm also from columbus.. when I was working as a temp during one summer in high school, I'd eat there often, and it was usually packed from the downtown crowd. strange that it wasn't doing so well.
I also remember how we'd always stop for lunch there when I visited the original COSI as a kid. it was like both of them were landmarks in columbus, because groups of people would be streaming in and out of both buildings.
