This just kick-started my shopping list for Friday's farmer's market. Thanks for posting this, looks fantastic!
I'm working on healthier versions of my favorite foods, and simpler cooking. I have young kids who like to help, and whose tastes change seemingly by the hour. It's frustrating to throw a lot of effort into a dish they loved two weeks, but now hate.
These whole wheat ginger scones are one of the recipes I'm adding to my rotation: quick, easy, and healthy, and they can take the place of a store-bought granola bar in a packed lunch. We can sub the kids' favorite dried fruit -- of the moment -- to change it up.
Thanks, Marwah -- I've never been a big fan of eggplant, and I realized it was because I hadn't had *good* eggplant yet! This is my new favorite pizza.
We've just shared a week of easy cookout dishes: shrimp with orange and dill, pizza, eggplant, flank steak for wraps and salads, and tri-tip. I just might make all of them at once. The roundup is here: Cookout Week at Cook Play Explore.
What a lovely piece! I love simplifying food, finding techniques that are easy and inexpensive that yield spectacular results. Yogurt-making, for one, is a weekly event that never fails to delight me.
Sharing food with my kids and dear friends is another. We have a food-centric playdate each week, taking turns coming up with recipes (and blogging about it) and involving the kids as best we can. My cooking has improved tremendously since we started sharing a weekly meal, and we have so much fun together.
I don't corrupt vegetables nearly often enough, however... That will be fun!
If you have kids, bring them. They'll always find something you didn't spot, and they're much more interested in trying new veggies from the market than they are at a big store.
Take a few minutes to listen to the live music, and toss in a few bills.
Ditto to the advice re seeking out organic. Our favorite strawberries at the market are organically grown but not certified -- or priced -- as such, making them a fantastic deal.
It doesn't get fresher -- or tastier -- than preparing dinner with herbs and vegetables just plucked from the back yard. And I like that my children participate in cooking from scratch: They know where their food comes from and the work that goes into growing, harvesting, and preparing it.

I love the fireside picnic idea!
Ganache truffles are so sweet and simple, and my hand-down favorites are these lavender and chamomile ones. Marshmallows are more of a production, but such a treat -- I like these rose marshmallows topped with ganache.
