Currently, my most memorable moment is eating several Mirchi Vadas. Unfortunately, that only happened in my head, right after reading the recipe. Dangit.

I just had back-to-back tastings of HFCS Mountain Dew and Throwback Mt. Dew, and I must say the slopes of the throwback taste much better.

By the way, I don't usually drink two sodas back-to-back, but circumstances conspired...

Hmm.. I've always referred to the act of drinking Mountain Dew as 'climbing the slopes of Mt. Dew', but I just now realized that licking the slopes would be a more apt description.

I'd have to go with a ten-course meal I had at Le Saint Amour in Quebec City... and my favorite part of that, narrowly edging out the flaming brownie, was the course labeled 'Ocean Surprise', because the waiter said, "This is the Ocean Surprise, so... surprise!"

I have a great recipe for strata with goat cheese and prosciutto!

I'm not sure how Thanksgiving-y it is, but the Chipotle Meatballs sound excellent.

I made each curry paste today, and tried out the scallops tonight. The dish was fantastic! I also got quite a thrill from cracking the coconut.

Tomorrow I may have to see if I can find an eggplant suitable for one person.

A few notes: I wasn't able to find a kaffir lime; are they perhaps seasonal? I went to an H Mart, which seemed to have every other conceivable ingredient, and also to a much smaller local store.

Also, I tried making the red curry paste in my blender, but it was nowhere near manly enough to handle that task. Frozen bananas, yes; shallots, apparently not. The food processor worked fine, though, even if it is a bit of an antique.

By the way, I would heartily recommend the sangria at Zambra -- and this is coming from someone who is essentially a non-drinker.

I live in New Hampshire, where the state motto is 'Live Free or Die'. It seemed a simple replacement would make it more food-friendly, if somewhat more nonsensical.

By the way, the state motto is stamped onto license plates, and those are still made at the state prison...
