Those roasted sweet potatoes sure do look good!

given the chance to be cooked for by any chef in the world

Jacques Pepin...hands down. I've been watching his PBS shows ever since I can remember (and that's a loooong time). He has such an easy style and charm. It would be a dream!

How do YOU make a tomato sandwich?

Soft white bread with lots of mayo. Thick slices of warm tomato (never refrigerated -- kills the taste!) sprinkled with salt and pepper. Eat at the sink while the tomato juice drips down your arms!!

In Videos: Melanie Hutsell Impersonates Paula Deen on 'Paula's Best Dishes'

Hilarious!! I'm from the same original hometown as Paula so I can understand everything she says where others might not :-) So glad she can laugh at herself!

Dear Whole Foods,

Been to Whole Foods twice. Found it to be more of a deli than a grocery store. Serious cooks want to *cook* serious food, not buy already prepared. Also, the prices were beyond ridiculous. I can buy most of the same items at a regular grocery for far, far less.

Cook the Book: Eugenia Bone's 'Well-Preserved'

I've been canning and preserving for as long as I can remember. Learned from my mother, but now also carefully follow the latest USDA guidelines for safety. I'll do tomatoes, pickles, various jams and jellies. Would like to try pressure canning next.

Making Butter at Home

Yes, I have and do make my own in my Kitchenaid mixer. There's a post about my butter making adventures on my blog at http://neverenoughthyme.wordpress.com/2009/04/02/make-your-ownbutter/
