cascabel taqueria on the UES (on the corner of 80th and 2nd) has some really good elote asado and their mushroom and potato tacos are pretty damn tasty too.
Daily Slice: Upside-Down Pizza from Stogie Joe's, Philadelphia
stogie joe's is basically recreating the pie that Pica's in Upper Darby has been doing for 50+ years. any good philadelphian has taken the bus or car ride to UD for pica's.
of note, the first time I got a pie like this, I complained to the hostess that I ordered mine w/ cheese, not a tomato pie. fortunately for my ego, she was pleasant in informing me that the cheese was beneath the sauce.
Slice Poll: Your Sweetheart Doesn't Like Pizza -- Dealbreaker?
dealbreaker? potentially--I just love pizza too much. fortunately, my fiancée is as crazy about pizza as I am and our shared love of pizza has been a big part of our relationship. in fact, the table cards at our wedding are going to be the names of pizza places we've visited together.

I third the Rebel Yell sentiment--it truly is the best tasting cheap bourbon. it's not quite as ubiquitous as EW or JD, but it's far superior to either, so worth buying an extra bottle when you can find it. perfect for cocktails, in that it's cheap and flavorful (you're not going to use your Hudson Baby Bourbon in a ward 8, now, are you?), but the flavor is complex enough to sip.
