Arbeck - if you are in North Carolina, hit up Parker's in Wilson, NC. Some of the best BBQ in the state.
My best food vacation was, just like Dorie, Paris! I was in love with France before I got there, but the Paris trip cemented our relationship:)

Next Stop in D.C.: Birch & Barley and Churchkey

Just went to Churchkey last Friday night after work. Not a huge beer drinker, so I love the 4 oz. options (that's about all I drink.) The food - however - was hugely disappointing, and I say that as a fan of almost ALL the other restaurants that the Churchkey owners run. Everything is SO salty. After 1 1/2 "tasting" size beers, I just started chugging water.

Massive girl crush on Nigella here. For cookies - I would have to say Martha Stewart's classic sugar cookies with white royal icing. I made them in the shape of wedding dresses for a bridal shower.

Do You Like Eating Pie Crust By Itself?

Oh I have been doing this for years! I used to joke that I performed "stealth surgery" on pies because I could hit the dessert table at family Christmases or Thanksgivings and remove 2 slices worth of crust, leaving behind most of the filling, and no one realized what I was doing:)
If fillings are made with good, fresh fruit and not loaded w/ sugar, I'll eat them. But all too often, I'd take a bite and realize the apple or cherry filling was canned. Not wasting calories on that, thanks!

Oh my lord. This is perfect! I have an acorn squash and am sick of making soup, roasting it, etc. Needed a new approach. This is definitely what I was looking for!

Nice try. Carving Martha's face would have given you just as much challenge as Che's murderous mug. (Not that she's really one to be idolized either, but at least she wasn't a Communist.)
There are plenty of other people who represent equality - heck, you could've carved Martin Luther King Jr.! Now THAT would've been cool.

The Bacon-wrapped Figs in Mascarpone Cheese at Eat Bar in Arlington, Virginia. They come served 3 at a time in a miniature black cast-iron skillet. To die for.

Bovine Bliss Found at Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Virginia

Ray's is my absolute favorite. I always get the Mack burger.
I love Five Guys and Good Stuff Eatery too - it just depends what you're in the mood for. They're all good but have different charms to them:) D.C. has become a great town for burgers!
