Reactions to the 'GQ' Top 25 Pizza List
Adam, I challenged you years ago on the Difara love and now readily admit how wrong I was. Any list that doesn't include Dom is a total joke. I loooooove Totonno's but COME ON.

'The Best Thing I Ever Ate' Pizza Episode
This was Ted' second time picking Graziella's. Ok, we get it, you want to pump up your fave neighborhood spot. But seriously, arugula+parm pizza. Seriously? No.

Chris Bianco is and always will be the Pontiff of Pizza...Why they went to Little Dom's for pizza in LA is a mystery...though i havent been there(Oops), Mozza would have been a better choice...even if you dont have a reservation, the Mozza 2 Go next door is a great place to pick up a pie or four and eat it while sittin on the hood of your car....
'The Best Thing I Ever Ate' Pizza Episode
Thanks to the Slicemeister's note about it re-airing yesterday, I recorded it and just watched it. I love Chris Bianco's line about all the goodness coming from the burnt ones. Is that guy the Pizza Yoda or what? @Karol I like the combination of post-oven arugula and shaved Reggiano very much, but sans the tomato sauce. I sprinkle on lemon juice along with the olive oil instead and it's always well received. I made one last night with Prosciutto di Parma under the arugula. It was definitely my favorite of the night.

Probably shouldn't talk about discrediting anyone before tasting what they recommended.

Come on ... how much talking about this guy ...
HE IS A LIVING CONTRADDICTION....
Less than a year ago he was mouth watering talking of neapolitan pizza he had in Japan ... Now he "destroyes" 300 years of tradition telling that Neapolitan pizza is disgusting ...
He does not like Neapolitan Pizza because of Buffalo Mozzarella and Anchovies ...
HALLO, McFLY? IS ANYONE THERE?
DID ANYONE TELL Mr. "ALAN McFLY" THAT NEAPOLITAN MARGHERITA IS MADE WITH FIOR DI LATTE and NOT WITH BUFFALO MOZZARELLA?
DID ANYONE TELL HIM THAT NONE OF THE THOUSANDS NEAPOLITAN PIZZERIA HAS ANCHOVIES ON THEIR MENU?
No passion behind Pizza in Italy ????
Is this guy KIDDING ME ????
Come on pizza in Napoli is a religion. There is no pizza without Napoli, there is no Napoli without pizza ... One cannot leave without the other ...
Mr. richman, give me a break ...
I honestly cannot take a Mr whatever to come-out with such a stupid article and throw 300 years of tradition and culture in the garbage ...
The funniest of all ????
After all this big article, he includes at least 9 Neapolitan (or better, Neapolitan wanna-be) pizzeria in his list of the 25 ....
IS HE KIDDING ME ???
What's it's point?
Can he be that stupid?
Come on, this article was a joke ...
One last thing.
Does anyone know where Mr. richman buys his "dope"?
That stuff is good, it works .... look how many BS he writes after he smokes it !!!! ah ah ah let's joke about it !!!!
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL ...

@ Paulie Gee: the other half is 100% red cross on white background English wanker, and I'm damned proud of both halves! :)
Can't wait for the pics! Thanks.

@Pizzablogger I myself am not a big Bufala fan. I do like it mixed in on DiFara's and Lucali's pies though. PHX was a remarkably rewarding experience. I've left comments about it in two items here; "Conratulations Are In Order" and "Fat-Guy.com Pizza Guide Republished". I think those were the only two places. Over the next week or so I will be posting pictures in flickr from Bianco and Settebello in Vegas. You can be sure I'll let you know when they are posted. BTW, what's the other half of your blood?

@ Paulie Gee: lol.....'tis true. And believe me, the Italian half of my blood literally boils every time I read that Italians do pizza "wrong".....and especially after hearing that mozzarella di bufala is pizzas "second worst topping"....mon Dieu!....to blaspheme indeed!
So, how was Phoenix? Do tell! --K

@ Pizzablogger Just remember, it is better to be pissed off than pissed on.

@Gutter: Love the Nick's in the list! Sometimes it seems to get forgotten in the age of newer pizzerias.
I think the only people who would get pissed off at the list are either pizza fanatics of various levels (like us) or people with a vested interest in whatever shops did not get mentioned. From the perspective of someone not living in NYC, but who visits a few times each year, I can tell you many people are completely clueless about pizza and have little interest in it, much less a place to go to find out more info.
After being a little pissed off myself initially, I realized this article at the very least helps to potentially raise some interest towards our favorite topic.

It is Milwaukee's one place that could have been mentioned in the article. They strive for authenticity.

Ever since Richman dissed New Orleans, I've found him hard to take "seriously" but his pizza list demonstrates either a real lack of experience or simply the desire to piss people off. Even the pizzerias that he includes that I agree should be on a "top" list (e.g. Sally's), he orders something ridiculous like a potato pie. The one comment I have to agree with that he makes is that when it comes to pizza, America (specifically, IMO, NYC) has it over Italy (Napoli).
