Shrimp Question: How do you know if it's bad?

I bought cooked, frozen shrimp on Saturday from the fish counter at a reputable grocery store in my neighborhood. It has been in the fridge since then. I just cooked it up tonight. I've already eaten some, so it may be too late, but how long does cooked shrimp stay OK to eat in the fridge? My web research found everything from 2 to 7 days, with the average being around 3-4 days. Will I be puking my guts out in a few hours?? The shrimp did not smell bad, nor was it overly slimey. Should I throw the rest away or do you think it's ok for lunch tomorrow? As a cubicle drone who brings her lunch everyday, this is a very important question! Thanks!!

Alcoholic Bugs?

Every time I pour a glass of wine in my new apartment, I've been noticing it gets swarmed with these tiny little fruitfly-like bugs! They literally drown themselves in the glass or hang out on the rim. I have not noticed them hanging out on any of my food, but I did see one on a bottle of rubbing alcohol in my bathroom. What are these alcoholic bugs and how do I get rid of them?!

Homemade Salad Dressing Question

How do you keep homemade salad dressing from coagulating in the fridge? I made a batch of Colin Cowie's Vinaigrette and the next day when I took it out of the fridge to use it was a lumpy mess. Is homemade salad dressing supposed to be used right away and is not meant to be stored?

Food-Related Collections?

Does anybody collect food-related items? I collect candy bar wrappers, particularly chocolate bar wrappers. My favorites are my M&M's "Plain" wrapper (before they went "Milk Chocolate") and my Necco "Bolster" candy bar wrapper that proclaims "Now 50% Larger!"

I need a recipe for cookies

The new issue of New York magazine has this recipe for "Flourless Chocolate-Walnut Cookies" that sounds like it will meet your "good and easy" criteria - I haven't made them yet but I nearly started drooling when I saw the picture of them in the magazine!

Shrimp Question: How do you know if it's bad?

Hi everyone - thanks for chiming in! I'm happy to report I ate all the shrimp without incident, however, I will try not to press my luck with shrimp ever again! And I will also try to give fresh shrimp a try (not precooked).

Peanut Butter and Jelly: A Serious Eats Special Report

Peanut butter and butter is good.

Peanut butter and honey is best with a sprinkle of wheat germ, especially when toasted in a skillet like grilled cheese.

Peanut butter and cream cheese is good too.

Peanut butter and Nutella...oooohhhh...

Peanut Butter and Jelly: A Serious Eats Special Report

Even with "scientific ratios", we all have our favorite ways of doing PBJ! To toast or not to toast? ... depends on my mood. Rye bread is my favorite with apricot preserves. Ooohhhh! I had forgotten all about using marshmallow fluff. Yum. I never understood the use of butter with peanut butter. For those of you who did, or still do, eat PB accompanied by butter, I hope there is a cardiologist in your family!

I'm shocked no one has mentioned peanut butter and fluff! What could be better than cheap-o wonder bread, crunchy Skippy, and an equally thick layer of marshmallow fluff? My favorite!
