Egads that all looks killer-diller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I don't use exclamation points lightly. Robyn your pix are so good I was licking my monitor screen, then I realized it was just a photo of lamb neck.
Chichi, you're my kinda gal, you took the skull home. You should get some of those little beetles that the Museum of Natural history uses to clean the flesh off animal skeletons.

@EIT, my pleasure Dave. I believe that the strips of colored paper duplicate as well as augment the menu. I know for certain that item No. 28, pork chop with shrimp sauce, on the back of the takeout menu also appears on the wall. I didn't incl;ude it in this post, but it's some of the best fried pork I've ever had!

I'm sure pig's eyes are edible, but why bother? I know I'm man enough, but I just don't see the point of testing our mettle by eating bugs, eyeballs, Fugu, or boars testicles just to prove that we can.
That said, April made us an awesome dish of cod sperm at John Dory, and we loved it.
Golden Vietnam Bakery: Queens's First Bánh Mì Specialist
Had this last night. It was easy to find as it was the first or second stall when you walk in. I had the #1 to go. The sandwich was in a word, disappointing. There was a bit too much of the pickled veggies and the meat wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. I used to live in Sunset Park around the corner from Ba Xuyen so their sandwiches are the high watermark by which I judge every other banh mi. Though serviceable I'm probably not going to be a regular at Golden Vietnam. :(
FergusStock at The Breslin
No thanks for the eyeball, but I'd love to try the head. It's all pork skin and fat what's not to love?! Lamb neck looks amazing too.
Golden Vietnam Bakery: Queens's First Bánh Mì Specialist
OK went looking for the place today took me a little while. To my surprise they were speaking FooChownese, more to my surprise the Banh Mi was pretty darn good. Way better than all the ones from the nearby Vietnamese restaurants. Bread was just toasted enough (don't like it when it is too hard) The meats were tasty and well layered with the pickled stuff. Great pick, I will definitely go back there. The PHO looked good too. Now I don't have to ask friends from Brooklyn to bring Banh Mi to me from 8th Avenue
Golden Vietnam Bakery: Queens's First Bánh Mì Specialist
You are absolutely right, there was no GOOD BANH MI place in Queens, how lucky am I that my office is right in Flushing. I will be having a #1 for lunch tomorrow. Come to think of it the there aren't many good ones in Chinatown anymore either.
Oh no, I am salivating already

Thanks!
Raising the Bar: Banh Mi at Terroir?
@sherrypie - Misspelled menu items sometimes crack me up. Cellphone noodles instead of cellophane noodles was a recent good one.
@Joe DiStefano - That roll just seems so wrong.
@sanhedrin - Was is worth it? Not if you go expecting a banh mi. Definitely not.
Raising the Bar: Banh Mi at Terroir?
I've been seeing a number of these "fancified" (or re-interpreted) banh mis pop up, what with the growing popularity of Asian sandwiches - kind of like the sudden explosion of $11+ Cubanos that happened a few years ago. And just like that epidemic of Cuba-fauxs, I expect to be disappointed in 90% of them - either because they're identical to sandwiches one can get mere blocks away for half the price, or because they wander a bit too far in their attempts to re-interpret, and wind up missing out on what made the original idea so special to begin with.
But the real question is: is it worth $11? Given that from the looks of it there's only half the meat you might get at Nicky's or Baoguette, I'm tempted to say I'm not gonna bother finding out.
Midtown Manhattan Gets Another Sichuan: First Look at Lan Sheng
Spelling is always suspect, particularly in matters of transliteration. Translations from one language to another is tough enough, but attempts to translate a Chinese character—along with its myriad phonetic implications—to our phonetic alphabet, well, the best is always a good guess, or the version that enjoys sufficient agreement among experts. Nevertheless, thank you for taking the time to make the correction.
Now, saying this the real question is whether your going to visit Lan Sheng and order a portion, or half portion of hua jiao.
Midtown Manhattan Gets Another Sichuan: First Look at Lan Sheng
While we're on the topic of misspellings, it's hua jiao not hua jio.
Midtown Manhattan Gets Another Sichuan: First Look at Lan Sheng

I posted my thoughts on this burger to http://irishfatty.blogspot.com - I think your review is spot on though, you can't declare this the best burger until you're tried it a few times, I got the sunset and vine and it was too messy.

About Joe DiStefano
Location: Rego Parkistan
About: Living in Queens turned me into an ethnic food obsessive. I never know whether I'm going to be eating succulent Mexican chivo on Roosevelt Ave. or dining on a mess of clams at a po jang ma cha (Korea's answer to the izakaya) in Flushing's Murray Hill.
Favorite foods: A well-executed Vietnamese sandwich with crispy roast pork and hot peppers, bone marrow on toast , Noodletown's soft shells, rare Kobe beef, the point or "deckle" cut of brisket fresh out of the smoker, Mom's garlicky potato croquettes
Last bite on earth: see above
