Poor Maraschino Cherries, Everyone Is Always Picking on Them

Color me an "A-hole", I don't like 'em.

Did I eat them as a kid? Yea.
But I also ate canned pasta at one point of my childhood and thought it was good.

I'd rather pass on the cherry in my Manhattan than risk a spoonful of that red, sticky syrup the cherry rode in on.

Can't believe I’ve never commented on this one! It’s a household favorite that’s been in heavy rotation since January.
By the way, I used Herbes de Provence on my first try and have stuck with it since. It works GREAT with this dish.

Equipment: Citrus Juicers

I prefer the upright juicer. There is no risk of getting over zealous as I imagine you could with an electric juicer. So no bitter pith in your juice!

@Nemis,
Dirt? That's a new one. Build it in the rocks glass and let the ice melt, the flavors will mellow.
Campari seems to take 2-3 three attempts. After that you'll either fall in love with it or...

French in a Flash: Apple Celeriac Remoulade with Crab

This deeply entrenched middle-ager has not only learned a fabulous new recipe (which I will “deploy” on my younger bride) but a new vocabulary word as well!
Quotidian
With this new found knowledge I shall now annoy others with my new word and please my wife (and myself) with this new recipe.

I’ll be reporting back here after the holiday on how well the recipe is received.
Also, on how much I annoyed my co-workers with usage of quotidian.

Is It Time to Take Vodka Seriously?

Vodka is a marketing success story.

For me it’s great for infusing (time to shake the lemoncello) and cooking. Otherwise it’s gin.
Or applejack.
Or rye.
And bourbon. Can’t forget bourbon with spring and “the” derby coming.
Oooh, or rum! A warm weather favorite.
So there you hav… silver tequila! Speaking of warm weather, time for some Flor de Jaliscos!

Time for a Drink: Old Pal

I went with the Booker's 126.9 proof bourbon (I know, good sipping whiskey, but it's to hot for me even with ice). I still found the Campari to be very forward.
I guess I'm too used to having Campari with something sweet (Cointreau in the Jasmine, sweet vermouth in the Negroni) so this particular cocktail tasted medicinal to me. I craved something salty to eat with it.
Hmmm, looks highly favorable that tomorrow is a snow day. Maybe I’ll try the Boulevardier…
