Stupid to Make Homemade Halloween Treats?

I wouldn't. If a child gets sick, you could be blamed. What a time we live in.

From Recipes

Time for a Drink: Bloody Mary

I used to like them, but lately when I order them they are just too hot. I t seems like everything is just a lot spicier than it used to be.

The Perfect Fried Egg Sandwich

I still love fried egg sandwiches. I generally use whole grain bread now with lots of black pepper and a little salt. The yolks are always broken before frying. I've never used mayonnaise on them.

Fluffernutter: Massachusetts' State Sandwich?

I'm from MA and I can say this is probably the best decision the legislature has made in a very long time. I also love it because it is just so wonderfully politically incorrect. Just think some places would want to tax it. Of course, since the state is almost bankrupt, that may be next.

Should A Service Charge Be Included at Restaurants So That Servers Can Have Benefits?

I agree with Midnightsun027. There are waiters who really go beyond the call of duty and I like the feeling of rewarding them for a job well done. I also like the feeling of tipping little or nothing to a server who has been rude and unhelpful.

baked potato's skin

They are really great with just plain butter put in them while they are still hot. Healthy? No. Yummy? Oh yeah.

Photo of the Day: World's Largest Pie Fight?

My motives are far less altruistic than those above. I just want to eat the pie.

Snapshots from the UK: Rules, London's Oldest Restaurant

I never thought to go to Rule's when I was in London. Now I want to jump on the first plane to Heathrow.

The Battle of the Reusable Shopping Bags

I still use the plastic bags for trash and garbage. Does it make sense to buy them? I can honestly say that they are always recycled at my house.

Alton's Purple Endorsement

What's wrong with grape juice? If he's going to advertise a product, at least he's choosing something that's healthy. Frankly I thinks it's kind of yummy.

Masalha,
That article was great along with all of the comments. I love the British sense of humor and their way with words.

I'm Cheap

There are those who are choosing to fill their carts at Walmart with junk food, soda, etc. There is no reason why they couldn't choose to buy things like potatoes, carrots, cheaper cuts of meat, beans, etc. For years people immigrated to this country and lived on meals that they actually spent time cooking. Then they actually sat down and ate together.

Foods from you childhood you don't miss.

If these are the worst of the emotional scars, then we're very lucky. At least most of us had parents who put food on the table. There are some kids today whose only family meals take place at McDonald's.

Universal Breakfast Program: Schools jumpstarting kids' day.

Making a big pot of oatmeal is not expensive and a lot of immigrant kids grew up on it.

Julia Child's House

A real foodie probably wouldn't be allowed to buy a house in Cambridge, all that butter, beef, eggs, etc.

Foods from you childhood you don't miss.

My mother never used prepared foods. The only thing I hated was Cream of Wheat (not instant). My mother was a great cook but for some reason the lumps didn't bother her. Yuck.
