I've made lemonade and sprite layered shots with cherries, with a vodka-infused variation for mocktail and cocktail shots. They were awesome!

The overall post is good - bring on more cheap beer/food reviews! - but I felt the 'durr women and math' quip wasn't necessary. Not all women avoid 40s, just like not all men drink them. Adding a stereotype doesn't assist with the review, and, given what's going on in the US right now, just makes me sad.

Too long, didn't read version: review, good; jokes about *anyone* being dumb posted on the awesomeness that is Serious Eats, bad.

I started teaching myself in college once I had time, blogs, and a lovely boyfriend to help clean the dishes with me.

A few days ago, I wanted to make breakfast for some friends of mine as a thank you. I'm a fairly decent baker, and picked something easy - miniature dutch babies. The problem was that the boyfriend is on a very strict diet: no egg yolks, low butter, low cholesterol. So, as a test, I bought some vegan egg replacer. I was concerned about the rising capability, but felt it was worth a shot, as the recipes on the egg replacer box discussed mousses, muffins and souffles.

Well, the recipe was supposed to go in for 15 minutes. 40 minutes later, the dutch babies never rose. I nibbled one and they were disgusting. The boyfriend is convinced that I'm not as good of a baker as I claim.

I made the dutch babies with real eggs the next day, along with cinnamon apples and blondies. All turned out lovely.

Most of my attempts at cream puffs - half the time the pate a choux becomes a gooey mess that's not strong enough to puff. I finally got it right with the Art and Soul of Baking, but even David Lebovitz couldn't help me!

My mother's latkes... I can still eat 10+ in one sitting! Small and crispy and awesome.

My favorite? Sitting by the beach in the Galapagos, watching the juvenile marine iguanas sun with me.

When I made flat cream puffs... that squished.
