Sweet Technique: Piping 101

To the first commenter: I'm a cake decorator from way back and have all the gear and know how to do everything in the pictures and more, BUT if I'm not in exactly the right "mood" I can STILL make a big mess all over my kitchen and myself! LOL

Taste Test: The Best Babka in New York City

Just found this post because I have babka on my mind today, having just posted my first homemade babka yesterday at delightfulrepast.com. Can't wait to make it again, can't buy it anywhere in my town.

Potluck peeve

I temper my expectations before I go to the potluck! So the only thing that really bothers me is when the food is left sitting out too long before serving. The hot foods are barely warm, the cold foods are warm, and NOTHING is at a SAFE temperature.

The Food Lab: Potato Salad Done Right

Well, I'm not an MIT graduate like you, so when I get around to blogging about my potato salad it probably won't take 2000 words! But, Kenji, I enjoyed reading your scientific approach to potato salad. Interesting, especially the green dye. Sounds good, and russets are a must; but I'm with LizLemon--you gotta put in some hard-boiled eggs.

Dinner Tonight: Pimento Cheese Burger

Love pimento cheese! It's really wonderful on tea sandwiches but also on "big" sandwiches like BLTs, hotdogs and burgers. The only thing that would make this burger better is my homemade hamburger buns.
