Eating raspberries right off the bush on the coast of Maine.

Cook the Book: 'Mary Mac's Tea Room'

I just love that any and all breakfast buffets in the South include grits and my Yankee travel companions kept talking about how thick the oatmeal was.

Cook the Book: 'Fiesta at Rick's'

Anna Burrell, I think she would throw a fantastic party, and I bet she hosts killer parties.

Cook the Book: Cooking Under Pressure

My oldest kitchen tool is a pair of training chopsticks (chopsticks joined at one end) I whisk, move food, pick things out of jars, drain cans, mix, etc, etc, etc. I have never made a meal with out them.

Cook the Book: 'The Barcelona Cookbook'

Going to a tapas bar in Barcelona with my dad and getting to drink a beer with him for the first time, it was such a fun grown up feeling. I remember eating tons of grilled octopus (like 3 plates of them)

$3.59 Caviar at Ikea

The caviar is pretty good, really fishy smell, but I mixed it in to plain yogurt and made a dip. It was pretty good.

Irrational (or rational) food prejudices you have had or have

I feel redundant but I have to jump on the anti- White Zin, well done meat, Miracle Whip, bottled dressings band wagon. But then again I have an occassional craving for Kraft mac and cheese and even that nasty Chef Boyardee ravioli, so I am no one to judge and I don't think that my tastes are any better than another persons, thus people are spared any lecture from me, but I will insist they try each others food, You never know who you can convert.
I didn't grow up eating junk food so I never have that big of an urge for it but I was always amazed by my friends families who bought bags of name brand cookies, since the cookies were so small. We had a family of five so it was generic everything and big bags of it too.

On that same note: My sister insists tuna is cat food and wont go near the stuff.

What is your worst cooking disaster hosting a dinner party?

I was having a gourmet pizza party for my first ever book clup and was expecting about 10-15 women that evening. I woke up early to prep and get the house ready. By about 4PM I had been working for 7 hours and wanted to take a little break before my guests showed up at 6PM. So what do I do? Open a bottle of white wine an plop down by the pool which I promptly finished since I was so thirsty. Needless to say the combination of the heat, the wine, and the lack of sleep all combine to make the evening a little fuzzy. Luckily some pizzas did get made since a few friends showed up early to see if I needed help and there I sit with a fully prepped kitchen passed out by the pool. To this day when ever it's my turn to host the request is that I hold off on the wine until everyone is there and we have at least talked about the book.

About JSchwo7

Website:

Location: Ocean Beach, CA

About: Am looking to become a personal so I can combine my love of cooking with meeting people. Working in a kitchen is too anti social for me.

Favorite foods: Anything that had parents and is grilled.

Last bite on earth: Crab cakes, followed by a 24oz NY strip with creamed spinach, carmelized onions and scalloped potatoes. Finish with a caesar salad and a cheese plate. Oh, and of course a bottle of Ravenswood Lodi zinfandel.
