Stay away from the sausage crust Thai pizza. It is horrible. My boyfriend and I tried it when we were passing through Nong Khai last year. We ate at the pizza company because we caught a horrible stomach twisting bug in Bangkok and just needed something that didn't include curry.
The pizza was rubbery and horrible and the sausage tasted like it was made from 100% chemicals. Real Thai food is uniformly delicious, so I'm not sure why anyone would ever order American style pizza in Thailand.

Hannah, I'm really enjoying your column. I've never worked in a restaurant, but have always wanted to. Don't know if it'll ever happen, but I sure love reading about it!

@ Hannah Howard. Right on..........about the healthy aspects of the food and the "luxury" of the communal meal. It was special, short lived and an event I always cherished.

I remember when I was a baby cook and had to do family dinner. It was so cool to have all of these bits and pieces to add to chicken legs and pork loin chops, leftover from previous service. Sneaking in a drop or 4 of truffle oil...when I became 'el jefe', I used family meal as a tool to test my baby cooks' palates and imaginations...long live family meal...
