A Thai Pizza Has Bacon and Cheese Stuffed in the Crust

Whenever my wife returns to Bangkok she can tell how many pizzas I have eaten by the corresponding ketchup packets in our chiller.

The Pizzy Company aint no Artichoke or Di Fara.

It makes me uncomfortable that I agree with the last three comments, yet still want very badly to try this.

All of you who say this looks good are crazy. Seriously, this looks like one of those "Sea Monkey" advertisements in the back of comic books from the 1970s.

Am I the only one who thinks the close up in the upper right corner looks eerily close to an eletron micrograph of bacteria breeding?

Be still my heart.

I'm off to price airfare. Bacon knows no boundaries.

Stay away from the sausage crust Thai pizza. It is horrible. My boyfriend and I tried it when we were passing through Nong Khai last year. We ate at the pizza company because we caught a horrible stomach twisting bug in Bangkok and just needed something that didn't include curry.
The pizza was rubbery and horrible and the sausage tasted like it was made from 100% chemicals. Real Thai food is uniformly delicious, so I'm not sure why anyone would ever order American style pizza in Thailand.

Served: Feeding Family

Hannah, I'm really enjoying your column. I've never worked in a restaurant, but have always wanted to. Don't know if it'll ever happen, but I sure love reading about it!

Now that's a family I think I'd like to be a part of, crazy in-laws and all.

I am now officially on the hunt for peppadews, btw: http://newsbite.wordpress.com/2008/07/22/no-dessert-until-you-eat-all-your-peppadews/

@ Hannah Howard. Right on..........about the healthy aspects of the food and the "luxury" of the communal meal. It was special, short lived and an event I always cherished.

@Christine...report back?!!

@Hocker...two full time family meal cooks, wow!

@iwannacook...I had a feeling my chef was sizing up my creations...

@Boscompb...I feel that! I have worked in the restaurant biz at the same time as being a poor college kid, so family dinners were actually some of the tastiest and healthiest things I ate in my week. In a culture/time when joyful communal meals are sadly rare, they often felt like a luxury.

I remember when I was a baby cook and had to do family dinner. It was so cool to have all of these bits and pieces to add to chicken legs and pork loin chops, leftover from previous service. Sneaking in a drop or 4 of truffle oil...when I became 'el jefe', I used family meal as a tool to test my baby cooks' palates and imaginations...long live family meal...

How to Turn Your Kettle Grill into a Smoker

Hi Robyn, Thanks for the plug! Hank and I had a great time smoking these ribs on the grill.
