Best Ramen in NYC?

So far, I've been told to try Totto, Minca and ippudo.

And, of course, there's always momofuku noodle bar.

Eggs, of course. Macaroni and Cheese, naturally. Chicken soup is really enhanced by a dash of it. Mixing it with mayo is heaven for dipping almost anything. And it's the perfect thing for Chicken McNuggets!

Great advice, Kenji. I prefer the standard 8-inch Victorinox, but that's just personal preference. All the Victorinox knives are great tools, and well worth the money.

Kinda surprised to not see a silicone spatula in there somewhere? Other than my knives or tongs, probably my most used tool.

Kenji, I think you've just created my new annual holiday tradition. Screw turkey!!

This is pure culinary genius. Can't wait to do a test-run!

Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?

I always thought it was "Toad in *a* hole", not "Toad in *the* hole".

Either way, it's deelish!

Do You Have a Breadmaker You Use and Like?

I just bought a Zojirushi CEC20 recently. It makes a nice 2-lb loaf in a traditional 'loaf' shape. I love it. Does a fantastic job on dough, bread, etc. I love that I can make a 1, 1.5 or 2 lb. loaf.

Poll: Anchovies on Pizza - Way or No Way?

Anchovies are wonderful. Most people I meet who stick their nose up at them have never even had them. I love them little fishies!

Man vs. Food is awesome. He gives local eateries some much needed love and attention. I've personally eaten at several places that he's been to, and he's usually spot on his recommendations, and they are places I never would have found or even heard of had it not been for MvF.

He doesn't just go to places that make great big food, he eats at local places that just make great food, period.

Culinary Ambassadors: Banana Ketchup

It is so good. I've had it on spaghetti and pizza (which is good), but it's best use by far is as a dipping sauce for lumpia.

Reality Check: A&W BBQ Bacon Crunch

Still have a soft spot for A&W. I grew up in a tiny town in California with only two choices for "fast" food; A&W and Foster's Freeze. But, the company that ran A&W when I was a kid is long dead and gone now.

Dear AHT: Meat Grinder Recommendations

If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer, the grinder attachment is absolutely fabulous. For $40 (Amazon.com) you can't beat it. Easily my top recommendation for a powered meat grinder.

Also note that you can make pretty good hamburg/ground beef using a food processor according to Alton Brown.

'Top Chef' Contestant Fabio Viviani Spokesman for New Frozen Pizza Line

As a child of a German mother, I grew up cooking with Dr. Oetker products, and cookbooks. I still have one of their English cookbooks on my shelf, and I will hold onto it until my dying breath. Traditional German cooking is awesome. I know that without the good Dr.'s vanilla sugar and a few other things, Christmas would not have happened in my house.

I'm really looking forward to trying these out. They'll probably ruin them trying to accommodate American tastes, though, I'll bet.

From A Hamburger Today

A Mini Hamburger Is Not a Slider

Actually, I grew up in the west, so I had no idea about Crystal/White Castle until I was much older.

When I was in the Navy, the term 'slider' refers to all burgers, regardless of size/thickness/origin, mainly due to their tendency to 'slide' around the grill while the ship is rolling or pitching.

So, to me, when someone says 'slider', I don't think of a small burger, nor do I think of Crystal or White Castle, I just think 'hamburger', period. A 'slider' is completely non-specific.
