Tehuitzingo in Hell's Kitchen for tacos (on 10th Ave between 47th and 48th). Love the Tortas and Beef Tongue taco...
The Best Mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival
We went to Tai Pan in Chinatown and bought the colorful ones: snowyskin, strawberry, taro, and sesame ones. Here are our photos:

Le Fooding Hits Le New York
We got in line at 6:40pm - and into the event by 7:30pm...(also noticed that the last call line got in before us?!) We would have loved to be able to get in at 6pm, but we didn't want to pay $60 vs $30 for each of us...given the long food lines, we were glad we had each other to divide and conquer.
We loved the ribs, corn, and steak. The Bo Ssam and ice cream (bourbon vanilla) were good, though not exciting. Glad we didn't spend the money on drinks - just drank the free Pellegrino (a little flat).
Still cleaning our shoes due to the mud, but we had a great time - and it was all for a good cause!
Tons of photos (including Master Blogger Ed Levine speaking with Wylie): http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/09/le-fooding-damour-celebrity-chefs.html

New Amsterdam Market, This Sunday at the South Street Seaport
Had a great time at the market - kimchee, white tea, lots of pate, delicious scoops of pumpkin cocoa nib and chocolate rosemary, beef brisket and more! The weather was great and we took tons of photos.

What to Eat at the Bon Appetit Pop-Up Cafe, Open This Week Only
We spent quite some time yesterday (enough that the BA photog knew us!) - but it was worth it! Loved the meatballs and peaches special by Jose Andres...and of course, meeting Chefs Andres and Boulud!
We finally edited our photos down to a few:

Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
Upon moving to NYC, we were determined to not to use our oven as storage and got the Joy of Cooking as our first official published book (wasn't sure if the collection of photo-copied, spiral bound made in grade school cookbook counted!)
In Season: Bell Peppers
We love bell peppers - and bought some purple peppers at the Union Square Greenmarket but were disappointed that they turn green when cooked!
Sugar Rush: Balsamic Fig Custard at Shake Shack
Agreed that figs would have been a nice touch - We found that each bite was different (the fig taste was more prominent but the more we ate, the more we could taste the balsamic)

Serious Heat: The Quickie Banh Mi
Can't beat the $5 Banh mi from Baoguette in NYC! The bread's soft and tasty while the pate is generous and meaty. Check it out here: http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/04/baoguette-our-new-favourite-banh-mi.html
We've also had their $7 Sloppy Bao which is an interesting take on the original. http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/09/baoguette-cafe.html
Thanks for the recipe!
UWS Shake Shack Will Sell Corn Dogs on Labor Day Monday
I had one today and it was fantastic! Wish they had these on the permanent menu! My photos at: http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/09/corn-dog-shake-shacks-labor-day-special.html
New York City Wine and Food Festival: Ticket Giveaway, 'Pairing Like A Pro'
A few options covering a wide range of price points: a nice juicy Argentinean Malbec, California Petite Sirah, a Washington Cabernet blend or Washington Syrah...
Dinner Tonight: Jacques Pepin's Crusty Chicken with Mushrooms and White Wine
Couldn't agree with you more Nick! I learn more from Chef Pepin than from anyone on those "flashier" shows! Thanks for the recipe!
Sugar Bust: Where's Our Sweet Corn Custard?
Just bought a pint of the sweet corn custard on Friday night from the UWS Shake Shack. It just tasted like cantaloupe to me. Check out my photo at http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/08/sweet-corn-custard-at-shake-shack.html
West Branch, the Neighborhood Restaurant of a Serious Eater's Dreams
We really wanted to like this place since we love Ouest. The food ranged from good (cheese gougeres) to over-rated (fish and chips for $20!) The atmosphere was nice, but for the price, we would rather spend our money elsewhere.
Our food photos: http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/07/west-branch-restaurant-in-new-york-city.html
Gus and Gabriel Gastropub: The Greek Coffee Shop (Diner) of Our Dreams?
It's a cozy spot that we're glad to have in the neighborhood! Staff is friendly, love the beer/scotch, but the small space can get fairly noisy. Here's a link to my food shots (chi-dog, mush-cheese burger, and grape float): http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/07/our-dinner-at-gus-gabriel-gastropub.html

In Season: Cherries
We just went cherry picking last weekend and made this super-easy pie: http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/07/chocolate-almond-cherry-pie.html
L.A.-Based Kogi BBQ Korean Taco Truck in Midtown on Monday
Just had the Kimchi Quesadillas and Chocolate Peanut Butter mousse combo that was served today. Hundreds of people were there! It was worth the 45 mins wait. Photos on my blog: http://highlowfooddrink.blogspot.com/2009/06/dt-kogi-midtown-foodie-craze.html
Win Tickets to the New Taste of the Upper West Side Event
Brunch at Good Enough To Eat; Burgers and Concretes at Shake Shack; Sweetbreads at Kefi; Italian food at Celeste; and Thai lunch special at Land. Love the UWS!
Dinner Tonight: Jacques Pepin's Crusty Chicken with Mushrooms and White Wine
One lovely part of this recipe is you can make enought to feed four - or just one person.
And, it's terrific with just a salad and a bit of bread.

Never been to NYC but subscribe to Time Out New York and New York magazine mainly to learn about living there ESPECIALLY the food! It seems to me the vendors at the park in Red Hook would be the first place I'd hit.

I love Laut downtown. Great food and great prices. Plus everyone there is very nice, even when our one friend had a few too many Sake bombs they couldn't have been more welcoming.
Book Giveaway: Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to NYC
I don't know any off the radar places as I only visit NYC 2-3 times per year, but I love Penelope Cafe for breakfast. Great food, and I really enjoyed eating breakfast at the bar.

Book Giveaway: Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to NYC
Chao Thai in East Elmhurst for NYC's best duck larb. (Sripraphai is great, but in no way "off the beathen path", as anyone who has waited for a table there Thursday night - Sunday night knows...) And Güllüoğlu for the city's best baklava - used to require a schlep out to Coney Island Ave, but now conveniently at 52nd & 2nd. Finally, Petty Soo Chow on Anderson Ave in Cliffside Park for XLB soup dumplings!

Book Giveaway: Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to NYC
I would love to try any of the stands in the Golden Mall in Flushing. One of my favorite places is Otafuku in the East Village...delicious Japanese street food in NY!
Book Giveaway: Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to NYC
Off the radar, eh? I'd have to throw in Leo's Bagels in Hanover Square in the Financial District. Big Booty Bread Co. on 23rd Street between 7th & 8th Aves. for the Tres Leches cake and the Red Velvet cupcakes. The Lobels sandwich cart (with their own butcher!) at Yankee Stadium for the Prime Beef sandwich on an onion roll. Lexington Candy Shop on the corner of Lex. and 83rd Street for a chocolate egg cream done right. Camine's Italian Seafood Restaurant on Beekman Street near the old Fulton Fish Market. 106 years old and still cranking out great red sauce (lasagna, lobster fra diavolo, zuppa di pesce, etc...)
