Champagne will chill other ingredients - and yes, it sounds like a lot of bitters, but it works soooo well in in this combo - so don't go off standard recipe! This has got to be one of my most favorite drinks!

Great poins to make jpolk - although, corporate 'guest bloggers' usually expose themselves through some lame one-sided commentary, usually to a defense of some product or another.... Oh well, isn't this what usually happens to all great concepts, they get widely adopted, and then become the child of some large bulky, slow moving corporate organization, only for something new and innovative to come out and show them up again.
Used to work in the corporate office at a burger fast food chain. One day one of the quality assurance tech's showed me a bag of lettuce with a frog bits, including a whole leg...yum! I think the little guys get deep in the veggies, and go right thru the choppers, and into the bag sometimes.
Yeah, it's actually pretty cool that bugs can display such geometry and semetry - heck, I can't even draw a straight line or a decent circle free-handed...

I hate the cake batter flavor...too sweet and artificial, as everyone else seems to think. And I'm mad at B&J's...my favorite flavor (Coconut Almond Fudge Chip) can only be had at the scoop shops now, not in the grocery store. I hope it's not going the way of the dinosaur...
I have a really hard time finding Peychaud's bitters here in California...my Angostura gets used all the time, but I know there's a difference in aromatics with the Peychaud's...is there any possible substitution, or can anyone turn me on to where to find it?
Eeeeww... artificial wipped(whipping) cream could never meet the flavour-expectation of the REAL home-made stuff! The packaging is pretty cool though!
Gums are carbohydrates. That said, I hate that we're becoming so lazy as country. Really? You can't open the box of granola and put a little bit in a reusable container? We're all going to be fat, sitting on top of little piles of 100-calorie pack wrappers in 10 years...

I like Paula Deen, I like her cooking, I cannot cook like her because it's not what I can serve at our home. The "Paula started from nothing" thing is also a topic. She was operating an illegal catering business out of her home. That is fact. No health inspection, no insurance, no safety net. If someone got ill she would have started with much less of nothing and a legal mess.
To hold Paul Deen up on a pedestal is asking for someone to come along and knock it down. Hero worship doesn't always convey well on here. You are free to worship anyone you want. I choose to worship people who did things the correct and legal way. Not selling food out the back door.
She is a story alright. She is the story of what you should not do. Doesn't matter if she was successful or not. Same with the Smithfield endorsement, her manager should have represented her a little better.
I do not begrudge anyone making a living. Just don't shove the beatified Ms Deen down our throats. We know the score and it was not a win win.
