When I was in college and working my way through Mastering the Art of French Cooking, I made Julia's flourless chocolate cake. I was amazed.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Praise the Lard Gift Box

When I lived in Muenster, Germany, there was a little cart in my neighborhood a couple of days a week that sold Schweinehaxe (ham hocks) that came right of the spit. It was a very cheap thrill, but a right tasty one, to chomp on one of those dudes on a cold, blustery day.

Caveman Kitchens in Seattle is probably my favorite, at least there. I'm also partial to Jack's on Broadway in Nashville.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Edible Chocolate Box from Charles Chocolates

My friend, Janine, once gave me a box of brownies into which she had put VAST amounts of bittersweet chocolate in fairly sizeable chunks. That's a serious candidate for favorite.

Being a heavy bruncher, I gotta say the cheeseburger and fries at the White Horse Tavern. I think Dylan Thomas would have agreed.

There was a Quebecoise tourtiere recipe in Gourmet magazine when I was in graduate school which I made one autumn day. I have not been the same since.

I was very partial to banana pudding. Like many childish delights, I have (happily) not yet outgrown this partiality.

I have sourdough starter that's 5 years old. I love using that because it's supposed to do something for insulin - either make it come or make it go away - whatever it is that is good for diabetics.

My favorite bread is a simple old-fashioned yeast bread like my mother always made. Kneading and letting it rise then smelling that yeasty scent - delicious.

I love making a whole wheat version of French bread, which I use for bread, bagels, and pizza crust. Everything is better with whole wheat!

Whole wheat sandwich bread is what I bake the most...but I think making pizza crust is the most fun. It's not really a bread though.. does that even count?

We love homemade breads. My favorite is banana walnut or pumpkin, though. They are always nice and moist. Thanks for hving the contest!
