Okay - enough of the cake burgers. This is supposed to be a site dedicated to the almighty hamburger - not cake, ice cream, party hats, furniture, pr anything else not gastronomically related!

Excellent Burger at Dippity's in Lumberton, Texas

Being from Texas, and living in South Carolina now... I love the thought of this Burger. I love the picture, the color, and the condiments. All in all, I'd say that those pictures and the article have made me more homesick then I've been in five years gone.
Dippity's is now on my list.

'Why Does Sonic Advertise on TV When There's No Sonic Near Me?'

I've always liked Sonic, but it does seem that the quality of the food has gone way south in the past 5 years. I can't quite identify what it is exactly, but usually the fries and onion rings are a cold gloppy mess of oil and flaccid side food. Also, I think they changed the bread company for the buns - seems much cheaper now.

Whataburger -- Anybody eaten at one before?

I grew up in Texas, and Whataburger is THE fast food burger joint to go to. I looooove those burgers. I live in South Carolina now, so I can't get them though.
I've had 5 guys and In-and-Outs, but Whataburger beats them hands down! The burger is always cooked fresh, the veggies are always crisp, and the fries absolutely rock. You can't get a better burger anywahere. What a burger!!!

@FattyMelt: There are plenty of actual burgers on the site, including the very, very meaty beast you borrowed your screen name from. In addition burgers themselves, AHT celebrates the culture of the hamburger, including stupid burger-shaped cakes, burger beds, and all that jazz. Just as a burger comprises bun and beef, so too is AHT more than a sum of its parts. All-burger-only-burger would get dull.

The 50 Best Burgers in Texas from 'Texas Monthly'

I've tried 4 out of the top 5 burgers on this list and in my opinion its all wrong. The so called "#1" burger in texas shouldn't be in the top ten, maybe even twenty! It's found in an up tight, swanky wine bar ( The Grape) were i felt self-conscious about diving into a hamburger and thought i should be cutting it up into small pieces with my fork and knife. Other than the tightly squeezed tables and the uncomfortable vibe the burger leaves alot to be desired. Especially for $13!!! Now the #3 burger, thats a whole different story! The Alamo Springs Cafe'. This struck out in the middle of nowhere country cafe' is very laid back and even more welcoming! Yes very hard to find being 10-15 miles off the main road and away from town but once you get there you feel right at home from the very beginning. Now to the burger, from the first bite to the last, the flavor and the juiciness of the meat will keep you longing for another bite. The huge beef patty is grilled to perfection. The outside is slightly charred to give it a crispy but not burnt taste while keeping the middle very moist and juicy. The meat sits on a bed of grilled diced green chiles that adds a unique and delicious taste. Topped with cheese, lettuce, grilled onions, and freshly sliced avocados gives a perfect compliment to the even more perfect meat. All on a jalapeno cheese bun that ever gets soggy and has amazing taste and texture in its self. Once you pick this burger up and have a bite you'll never want to put it down. Trust me that is exactly what happened to me. And i didn't until it was gone! Even if you are full after its gone, you will consider ordering another one just to have one more taste!!! Take the drive to Fredericksburg and have this burger! This will be the burger that i will compare all the others to, probably for the rest of my life!!!

F-Words of Wisdom from Pizzaiolo Chris Bianco

Gourmet.com received written approval from CB to run this piece? I DOUBT IT. I know Chris personally & I feel this is mildly funny but it's not Chris Bianco... some of this slander may have been him in a rushed moment, baring witness to men with a ruler measuring a few of the hundreds of pizzas he makes himself each night. When you read other articles featuring Chris for the chef he truly is, you find his wisdom has nothing to do with an F-bomb. Out of respect for Chris Bianco, I say remove this F-bomb piece unless he wants it posted...

In Which I Eat the Hot Dog and French Fry Pizza at Pizzeria Reginella

This is... WRONG. I mean, if you said that this was readily to be found in Scotland, for example I'd just nod sagely and chalk this up to that-which-might-be-expected from the country that brought the world haggis and deep-fried Mars bars. But dammit, something is going wrong in Italy, because where people used to dilute their wine with water at meals, they now cut it with cola drinks. Yes, really.

You CAN'T put that sort of thing on pizza... it's just begging the antichrist to come along, or something.

I went to this place in hopes of getting a Margherita slice, as flyers had been placed where I work stating that this was an option. I went after work and the pizza and the food in the steaming table behind the counter was was so dried out that two different groups of people walked out while I was there. I should have done the same as the "Margherita" was just a regular, pedestrian slice, and a lousy one at that.

This creation is just not right? I don't think so...Actually since I was kid I had this kind of food combination.
It worked and still working in Italy and other european countries.
It's very common fried dish in Naples. I had at least one a week when I was studing there.
I'm native Italin (near Naples) and trust me it is very good.

Anyway, go there and try it...and if you don't like they have many other pizzas to chose from and fresh hot food to try.

This place "REGINELLA" will rock. Good location...Good decor...and over it... good food...(Bravo to: Costantino Carmelo & Gino).

Scalloped potatoes, bacon and cream (on top of tom/mozz) is a popular topping combination in northern France, although the bacon is smoked back bacon and not the crispy rashers we know. I think it's inspired by the Alsatian flammekueche/tarte flambee.

When I was an exchange student in Dijon, I tried the pizza bourguignonne (Burgundy pizza), which included the classic foods ("produits du terroir") of Burgundy as toppings, i.e. escargots and parsleyed ham terrine. Yum!

@santoslhalper: I've had mashed potato, too. And processed sausage. I think the combo of the two here was way too much, though. The fries and crust make it a total starch bomb, and the hot dogs are very salty. Admittedly, I didn't have this slice as it's normally prepared. They usually make a special pie (sans sauce), but they didn't have one out so they just topped a slice with fries and a dog. I'm not sure if the amount of cheese on this thing was absolutely indicative of what the usual special pie has, but on this slice it was very, very cheese-heavy. Given the amount of cheese on a plain slice, though (mega cheesy), I'm guessing the made-as-usual special hot dog pie here is just as cheese-heavy as my made-on-the-fly special frydog slice.

hmm i dunno, i don't see the big deal. i've had mashed potato on a pizza. it was good. we eat all sorts of processed sausages on pizza. i'd give it a try. seems too heavy though.

I've made a cottage fries and hamburger pizza many times. That was actually very good.

I've also made a hot dog pizza. Also very good.

But I've never had a hot dog and fries pizza.
