It's a perfect diet food. Just looking at it puts all thoughts of food out of your mind. One bite and you realize you weren't nearly as hungry as you thought. The weight just melts away.
Did the Internet Kill 'Gourmet' Magazine?
We first subscribed to Gourmet in the 1970's. It was a marvelous magazine, with strong, literate writing, and echoes of the old authors, like lillian langseth-christensen. Later, it changed hands, and went downhill and became something you saw at the checkout line, with ads on the outer columns of both pages and text buried deep near the binding. It wasn't the Internet that killed it. It committed suicide.

Santa Maria BBQ is also famous for Pinquito beans, a small pink bean grown only locally, as far as I know. Safeway carries a canned version, and the real dried beans can be ordered online.
