p.s. about the shredded vs block cheese. most of the time, yes block is less expensive, but watch the sales closely. check your ounces, and sometimes you might get lucky and find the shredded is cheaper than the block.

Money Saving Tips On Food

if your grocery store has a savings card program, sign up for it and use it! it can save tons of money a week. also, the obvious coupon clipping can help, but I often find that most coupons are for stuff I don't need. my grocery store's registers sometimes spit out a coupon based on what I have just purchased.... often baby food... if yours does this, be sure to save those and use them!

Favorite frozen entrees?

I love Marie Callender's pot pies, and since I'm the only one in my family who will eat pot pie, it's a perfect serving for me on my own. My entire family loves Stouffer's lasagna. We're also very fond of frozen pizza. Most of the time it's either Red Baron or Digiorno. We've recently tried Wal-Mart's Great Value brand with the foccacia style crust. It was good, but not great.

Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling

I remember sitting on my grandmother's counter while she made her famous red earth cake with seven minute icing. I think I need to make one soon. There's nothing in this world like it.

@Shelby, We bought my 9 year old daughter her very own Nikon Coolpix camera. It takes THE BEST pictures and is super simple to use.

maybe some cinnamon fried apples with either whipped cream or ice cream... kinda like apple pie without the crust!

Simple, No-Frills Pumpkin Pie

@ punkin712.... I never blind bake my crust and always follow the start-at-high-switch-to-lower-temp directions. Also, watch the edges of your crust. If they start to get over-browned before your custard (that's all pumpkin pie is, right?) is set, use foil strips to cover and protect.

Simple, No-Frills Pumpkin Pie

I almost always use the recipe on the back of the Libby's can. My mom doesn't particularly care for nutmeg or cinnamon in her pumpkin pie, so sometimes I'll leave it out or sub ginger. Pumpkin pie is really hard to get wrong.

Look, all of us want more blog traffic, and there is no way we can read all of our collective blogs, but we should really make an effort to check out at least other 5 SE's blogs if we post our own in this thread --after all, not fair to 'shill' if you don't help others out!

So wonderful to have so many fellow writers! I actually have two blogs to share. One is my personal blog: www.thedilettantista.wordpress.com which covers, well, EVERYTHING, cooking, restaurants, movies, etc. I started it this summer when I was living in New York City for an internship, so it is especially heavy on NYC eating.

I am also a contributing writer to Carpe Durham, a food blog that focuses on eating in Durham, North Carolina. The blog was started a few years ago by Duke law students, and I am a newer writer. The blog is a great source if you live in the Triangle area!

Thank you all!
