Equipment: Which Stand Mixer Should I Buy?

I have to agree about everything you said about the Kitchenaid - I had that very mixer and loved almost everything about it. I did not like that it did not have the power to mix bread dough without shaking and convulsing and leaping off my counter (which it did once). I ended up trading it in for the Bosch Universal which I absolutely LOVE and have not looked back since. Everything my Kitchenaid could do, my Bosch can do better. That being said, I do not have/use grinder attachments or pasta makers and I have an ice cream maker that is separate entirely. If I was considering those options, it may have altered my decision. I use mine strictly for mixing of doughs, batters, meats, meringues, creams, etc. For that, it is the best!

smoothies?

I do green smoothies which are a 60/40 proportion: 60% fruit and 40% dark leafy greens (kale, spinach, collard greens). You can add the greek yogurt as well which will give it a tangy-ness that is nice.
I use 1 c kale, 1 banana (frozen or fresh), 1 c FROZEN blueberries and some water or 100% apple juice if you need it sweeter. I also usually add a tbsp or two of ground flax, just for added nutrition (great in Omega fatty acids). You can add the yogurt with a little less water or some people like soy milk. Just blend for about 2-3 minutes to make sure everything gets really well pureed.
I mix up the flavors every day as well: spinach-strawberry-banana (I always use the banana for sweetness no matter the flavor of smoothie)-orange juice (enough to make it blendable), collard green-peach-mango-banana-water, spinach-pineapple-banana-water. I also sometimes add half an avocado to it which gives it a really creamy texture! These smoothies are a great way to get more folic acid, calcium, and tonnes of other vitamins from the fruit and veg. They also taste fantastic - you have to try it to believe it.
The yogurt banana peanut butter one is really great as well!
