Bake the Book: 'CakeLove in the Morning'

I love bread pudding. Sweet, savory, it doesn't matter. They are all perfect for breakfast. I love a savory breakfast bread pudding with sausage, onions, and cheese or a sweet one loaded with cinnamon and caramel. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Knead the Book: Kneadlessly Simple

It completely depends on the kind of sandwich I'm making (for example, I just HAVE to have seeded rye for pastrami). Overall, the most versatile sandwich bread for me would have to be sourdough.

Win the Valentine's Day Collection from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

Vanilla with salted caramel and roasted figs.

Knead the Book: 'The Fundamental Techniques of Classic Bread Baking'

I most want to master my own round Italian loaf like the ones my great grandma used to buy at the little Italian grocery store down the street when I was really little.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: La Quercia's Cured Meat Experience

...with a crusty and chewy loaf of bread, good strong cheese, and a peppery pinot noir.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Korin Knife

My favorite knife is my pink pairing knife. It's the sharpest little thing and my best friend in the kitchen. Plus, it's pink so my boyfriend keeps his hands off of it!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: The Sriracha Lover's Ultimate Gift Pack

I like it on your typical stuff like grilled chicken, but my boyfriend puts it on EVERYTHING from sushi to cottage cheese!

Cook the Book: 'The Big New York Sandwich Book'

My favorite is a grilled chocolate and cheese. I love it when it's fancy with aged cheddar, high quality chocolate, and brioche, and I love it when it's NOT fancy with Wonder Bread, Hershey's bars, and Kraft processed slices. Any combination works and is my Achilles heel!

Great New York State Hot Dogs: Zweigle's Red & Whites

I live in Rochester, and these are my FAVORITE hot dogs ever. I have travelled around to other cities and statesand tried other famous regional brands, but nothing is a more perfect hot dog to me than a Zweigles. In my opinion, the best way to prepare them is on a charcoal grill just until they burst open so that the split casing edges get slightly black. I'm drooling just thinking about one now...

Cook the Book: 'In the Small Kitchen'

My first kitchen on my own is my current kitchen. It's a tiny galley kitchen. My boyfriend and I are both foodies and great cooks and fight over what small amount of space we have in there. Must-have for our next apartment search is a big kitchen.

Bake the Book: 'Miette: Recipes from San Francisco's Most Charming Pastry Shop'

The sweetest bakery near me is called Sugar Mountain Bake Shop. They only bake cupcakes, but they are the BEST cupcakes. Every single one has filling and fun flavors. My most recent find there is the "Cakes and Bacon" cupcake which is a buttermilk cake with maple filling, maple buttercream icing and topped with chocolate covered bacon. OM NOM NOM

Cook the Book: 'Guy Fieri Food'

Pulled pork and black bean nachos with the works!

Father's Day Book Giveaway: 'Man with a Pan'

My daddy is one of the greatest guys I know personally in the kitchen. He could make a gourmet meal out of just random scraps anything leftover in the cupboards or fridge. While always a creative cook, his best dish is his chili. Nothing fancy, just straight-forward knock your socks off, should win every cookoff around darn good chili.

Goodbye, Dumpling

I am so sorry for your loss. While I never met him, he touched my heart. I looked forward to seeing his drooling sweet face every week in the Serious Eats slideshow every week. He brought joy to all of us. My favorite memory is the time leading up to Halloween when he modeled a different doggie costume each week (especially the hot dog one). Rest in peace Dumpling.

Father's Day Giveaway: Win a Two-Pound Cowboy Chop

I'm gonna have to pick a T-bone... it's like 2 steaks in one!

Father's Day Book Giveaway: 'Eat Like a Man: The Only Cookbook a Man Will Ever Need'

CHILI... I swear my dad makes the best chili around. He has no recipe and swears he just "wings it" every time. Yet every time it tastes the same, and that taste is AMAZING. Even my boyfriend, a fellow foodie who has judged many a chili competition begs my dad to cook his meaty manly chili for him almost every time we visit.

AHT Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Hamburger America' by George Motz

I would want to go up and down the California coastline... beautiful weather and a wide variety of food styles (and lots of different kinds of burgers... YUM).

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Roadfood'

Right before the NYS Thruway on-ramp in Batavia, NY is this AMAZING shop called Oliver's Candies. I always have to get chocolate hand-dipped toffee and buttery sweet glazed cashews for the drive west.

Cook the Book: 'Cooking in the Moment'

My favorite moments are when I bring in fresh tomatoes from my garden and make tomato sandwiches on Wonder bread with Miracle Whip like I did when I was a kid. Of course now I add fresh basil from our windowsill pot and fresh grounds black pepper and sea salt. Nothing beats a good tomato from your backyard at the end of summer.

Serious Reads: Summer in a Glass by Evan Dawson

I watch this man every morning on my local news. He is a great reporter and I'm guessing that this also makes him great writer. I live near the Finger Lakes and have tasted from nearly all their wineries. I can attest to the harsh conditions and the very flavorful and satisfying wines (especially whites) that the region yields. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this book.

Cook the Book: 'Food Trucks'

We don't really have food trucks in the non-urban area in which I live, but I have fond memories of running out to the steret for the ice cream truck every day in the summertime when I was a kid. We would hear the bell and run to the road to make sure we caught him, and while we were making our selections, my mom would catch up to us with the money.

Ed Levine's Caloric Journey, Week 170: A Change in Course

I think the way you're planning on reframing your weekly caloric journey post is a great idea. I look forward to reading it every Friday as I have been struggling to maintain a 100 pound weight loss and also continue to be my true foodie self through and through. It's not easy to absolutely love everything about food and be cursed with a poor metabolism. I think your new additions to the column such as tricks, tips, and potentially healthy recipes would be a great help to all the people out there such as myself who love food, but don't want to love it at the expense of their health. Thank you for keeping readers like me in mind. I look forward to next Friday's post!

Cook the Book: 'Michael's Genuine Food'

Genuine food to me is home cooked, made with love, and made with a specific purpose in mind (ie. nourishing your body after a day in the cold, surprising someone on their birthday, making someone's day with their favorite ingredients).

A Year Later, FDA Proposes Menu Labeling Requirements

I followed the instructions and the regulations.gov website keeps coming up with 0 search results for that docket number. It makes me think they really don't want feedback. If anyone gets comments to work on the government website, please tell me how. I feel very passionate about this topic and would love to give them my viewpoint.

Cook the Book: 'Serve Yourself'

My favorite thing to eat when I'm cooking for one is grilled cheese. The cheese and other filling options are limitless, so it never gets boring, and it's easy to make just 1.

Ed Levine on Unique Eats: Pizza

I am addicted to the show on the Cooking Channel called Unique Eats. On their latest episode, "Unique Eats: Pizza", guess who was one of the commentators... Ed Levine! It was cool to see him on video and hear him speak about tasty pizzas instead of just reading something he had written next to his picture here on the blog. Did anyone else watch that episode? What are your thoughts?
