Wildwood: Good but Inconsistent Barbecue

But Texas and N.C. bbq are so different! If it's one restaurant with lots of different kinds of bbq, no WONDER they can't get it right.

As for me? I'm heading Down East to the coast next week, and a stop at Wilbur's in Goldsboro is on the itinerary! (I'm a Western N.C. girl who married an Eastern N.C. boy, whose uncle has a bbq restaurant. They turned me.)

Just curious ... Smokey's had N.C. bbq? Eastern or Western? That's wild. N.C. bbq in NYC.

Mine is already a squash. That would hurt, too, much less the WATERmelon I'll have in a few short weeks. Cute chart, nonetheless!

Moo, Brittania: Oreos Make Splash in England

Isn't there room in Britain for one measly cookie? I'll admit I like their chocolate bars better. (Yummmm, cadbury with crispies.) They should give our Oreos a chance!

Cart Contents May Predict Who You Vote For

I read this article and thought it was a sorry excuse for journalism. I also thought it was ridiculous and completely unscientific. Is this what all of the millions of dollars that these candidates are raising is going to? Sheesh.

I'm pregnant and unfortunately craving all things carb-o-licious and bad for me. JUST YESTERDAY I wanted a tato skin. For real. Man oh man.

Turkey Talk with 'Gourmet' Magazine's Ruth Reichl

I relish every word that woman says! I just finished "Garlic..." and was completely inspired. I love the fact that she wants to do all the cooking. Sounds like many of us - kitchen control freaks, no?!

Favorite no-bake treats?

I'm so glad you enjoyed them! Easy and awesome, aren't they? I made meringue cookies one time where you heat the oven, then stick the cookies in, turn it off and they're ready in the morning. Really cool. (But not as good as those bars!)

Anybody remember Sprinkle Spangles? Anybody? It was a cereal made of star shapes, sprinkles and lots of sugar. Beautiful rocket fuel.

Not Ed Levine exiting Wildwood BBQ....it's Senator John McCain!

I just found some cookies that are a lot like Magic Middles at a truck stop in Italy. They're called Grisbi. Google them online.

Ohmigod, Smokey's. We LOVED Smokey's! My Mom would actually send me on Smokey's runs when I was a kid. We lived on the upper west side and she'd have me leave well before 6PM in order to leave enough time for the long trip downtown on the bus, retrieving the goods, and make the long trip back. My bus pass would expire each day at 7pm, hence the planning.

I remember it being the most delicious thing I've ever tasted.

@Confab. My family still lives in NC and I bring back the good stuff when I go visit, I even have people placing orders from up here for when I go back. I plan on getting a couple of smoked pork butts from a good reputable source I have and pulling the meat off myself rather than the pieces/parts that are sometimes found in chopped bbq *gag*.

@josefr PLEASE let a good bbq restaurant migrate into NJ...PLEASE!! *begs*

@ carriebwc "amuses me how nyc has become seemingly obsessed with bbq"...it comes down to economics, bbq is made from the cheapest cuts of meats that these dudes can rip yuppies off for. its like the pork belly and the offal trends of years past.

Moo, Brittania: Oreos Make Splash in England

What!!! This has to be a cultural thing. Oreos to me taste like cardboard with margerine in the middle. Send me back home for a chocolate covered digestive, or a nice hob-nob any day, I strongly disagree that you cant get a good cookie in britain! The only thing that is a bit disappointing is a rich tea biscuit that seriously is just made of cardboard!
