another vote for Rittenhouse BIB, it should be on this list. It's not only a world class Rye, it's the best bang-for the-buck in the Rye game. Avoid the Rittenhouse 80 Proof, it's a pale shadow of it's Bonded brother.

My FrancisFrancis X1 consistently makes some of the best espresso that I've had. Illy makes decent espresso, but now that I'm through my commitment period I buy artisanal espresso online instead.

Which is the Best Nonvintage Champagne?

Maggie,

With all due respect, the fact that you recommend Moet's Brut Imperial (a rather bland entry level Champagne) but fail to recommend Bollinger Special Cuvee (consistently one of the top quality Grande Marques) makes me question both your tastes and judgement. Ditto for your failure to recommend Taittinger's Brut La Française.

How to Mull Wine, or, How to Brew Pure Happiness in 3 Hours or Less

My favorite hot mulled wine is a Victorian punch called Smoking Bishop, which was famously featured in several of Charles Dickens' novels. It's mulled red wine and port, with the addition of sour oranges. Here's an historically authentic recipe from Dickens's Great-Grandson, Cedric Dickens:
