'Top Chef' Contestant Lisa Fernandes Hates Your Poor Blogger Ass
Glad to know Lisa is not at the much over-praised Mai House in Tribeca because I would never want to support any place that employed such a sour, angry, bitter woman as part of its kitchen staff. I agree with Richard that people like that are 'like a grey cloud in the kitchen.' I have worked in restaurants and even one person with an attitude like hers spoils the good work the rest of the team might create. If the owners of Mai House also employed Spike, they must be just like those two. I don't want to sample ANY of her cooking - ever. BTW, a friend of mine went to the A-List Awards and said it was just another trumped-up reason to promote Bravo shows. One of the 'nominees' for Most Entertaining Female on a reality show was that horrendous harridan Rameana from the faux housewives disaster. I don't think anybody on the senior staff at Bravo has any scruples whatsoever, including Andy Cohen. The incessant and very obvious product placements on TC just make me furious. And don't even try to get on their site because it's so cluttered up with ads that it's almost impossible to load these days. If I didn't love TC and Kathy Griffin, I would avoid that channel altogether.

There's a Q&A with Richard on the Food & Wine site. I can't tell when it was posted, but I am wondering if it's part of the 'profile' they promise the winner every year. I hope so. Stephanie definitely seems to have stepped up, but I think Richard is the more inventive chef. Lisa took Spike's place at Mai House in New York. He went to DC to open an upscale burger place. If the owners of that restaurant hired BOTH Spike and Lisa, they must be just like them. Why can't all chefs be as charming as Danny Meyer and Todd English?
