Question of the Day: Best way to sharpen knives at home?
I love sharp knives... nothing is worse than a dull one! How to people sharpen theirs? By a professional? At home with a tool?

In Guatemala where I grew up avocados are a staple... eaten any way possible. In soups, on tortillas, with frijoles... it is all delicious. Now I eat one or two a week for lunch... spread on good bread with a little salt. It is better tasting than butter in my opinion...
I am the happiest in my kitchen when I am having a glass of wine, cooking a nice dinner for my partner and listening to some good music at the end of the day. The whole experience relaxes me and makes me realize how much I enjoy cooking!
How could I forget my favorite method of avocado ingestion: unagi and avocado rolls.
YUM.
Prefer the texture of luscious avocados served halved or sliced. Avocado in a salad that boasts lots of tomatoes, peppers, and greens, terrific. A sandwich of avocado, brie, tomato, and lettuce on chewy rustic bread. Another favorite: salmon-avocado maki rolls.
Well...I have honestly never had avocado...I know, I know...
I love avocados! I like them just scooped out of their skins and shoveled straight into my mouth. I like them in maki rolls with cucumber and scallions. I like them spread on bread with a little grey salt. I like them in guacamole (avocado, lime juice, salt, onion and serrano chile in mine).
My favorite sandwich is made at a little place called Big G's in Winslow, Maine. It's called a Papa Charlie and is melted cheese, tuna salad, tomato, sprouts and avocado on lavash. Best. Sandwich. Ever.
*swoon* I don't think there is any savory way I wouldn't eat avacadoes. One of the Mexican restaurants near my home makes guacamole tacos and tostadas. Very simple, just a crispy corn tortilla, guacamole, lettuce and some Monterey Jack cheese.
When I make my own guacamole, I just scoop them out of their skins, sprinkle them with salt and lemon juice and add a couple of tablespoons of homemade salsa. I leave it pretty chunky.
I've never tried them in sweet applications and, in fact, the only time I've ever seen them in a dessert was when one of my fellow culinary students made an avocado cheesecake. My instructor and I had almost identical palates and he didn't like it, so I didn't try it. Not very adventurous of me I admit, but I just couldn't do it.
I've never heard of avocado's sweetened... but I love them plain. Me, a half avocado and a spoon and nothing else. Guacamole is good, just as long as it's mildly if at all spicy.
Any way possible. I am a complete avocado junkie, and living in western MA, I'm very thankful for shipped, out-of-season produce.
My sister in Santa Barbara introduced me to avocado mashed up in cottage cheese. Sounds and looks rather putrid, but tastes wonderful. Try it!
Does anybody still call them "alligator pears?"
I am with you 100% I love my avocados naked. Delicious!
I will admit sometimes I do drown my avocados in balsalmic dressng!
I have no love to share....I'm on the weird list too. :-(
