Question of the Day: Listening to music while cooking?
with Italian food, it HAS to be opera.... preferably Verdi.

Now that's a dream -- cooking and NPR!
My music tends to go with my mood, not the food.
I usually sing to myself, as I have such a fabulous voice (note: extreme sarcasm here)
The plus is everyone leaves me alone to escape from the horrible noise and I can cook to my hearts content.
But usually I just have to tv on to a current affairs program, so I can cook and abuse politicians at the same time ^^
When I'm making Sunday brunch, it's Bill Withers for sure. Cocktails for Happy Hour - Earth Wind and Fire, Dinner with the Roomies - Jurassic 5 or Indigo Girls, something we can sing to.
I'm on a "going back to my childhood" kick and since there was no music from my childhood (Vaughn Monroe, the Andrews Sisters...yucko), I listen to an assortment of early rock, or early heavy metal..........but if I am cooking a big ol' pot of gumbo, it has to be something out of my Mark Savoy collection.....jumpin' up and down, choppin' music for sure.
Paris 1919 is a great cooking or non-cooking record!
I tend to listen to whatever is going around in my head at the time. Lately it's been John Cale's record Paris 1919.
I listen to music most of the time...but when I am cooking I love to listen to NPR.
I love this question - what isn't more fun with great music in the background? Since it is summer I've been listening to fun summer music like Lily Allen and the Beach Boys while I cook - or make cold food, rather.
Johnny Cash, Indigo Girls, Roger Waters, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan are usually making the rounds on the kitchen stereo.
I almost always have music on in the kitchen, most usually jazz.
