Bubbles: Great Sparkling Wine from Westport Rivers in Massachusetts

Westport Rivers is worth the leap of faith~ their sparkling wines are excellent. If you are in the area, the winery is a gorgeous place for a tasting and picnic.

Cook the Book: 'New Classic Family Dinners'

Favorite family dinner- I'd have to say beef stew with dumplings or chicken pie- it's a tie. Both make me think of a snowy Sunday when you spend the day by the fire watching the snow pile up, not concerned because you don't have to leave the house. Coming in from shoveling, nothing warms you up like beef stew or hearty chicken pie. Mmmm......

Cook the Book: 'The Craft of Baking'

Favorite dessert???That's a tough one but I'll have to say a peach pie that I made in August with the first peaches of the season. I adapted Alice Water's blueberry pie recipe and it was divine. It was the best pie I've ever had. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The crust was perfectly flaky and the filling tasted like a just picked peach. Heavenly!

The Crisper Whisperer: Zucchini and Corn Fritters Rule the World. For Reals

Hallelujah~ I'm guilty of CSA veg neglect. I've got a shriveled kohlrabi in the crisper drawer that I can't bring myself to toss into the compost pile.
I'm going to be so disappointed if I don't get zucchini and corn in my share tomorrow!

Interview with a Grocery Store Shoplifter

I work in Loss Prevention for a supermarket chain and shoplifting is a crime. I really think that posting this interview somehow makes it ok. Someone always pays the price for shoplifting, usually the innocent consumer. Also, if this person is a pro, they aren't very good at it. Fifty dollars in nothing for a grab.

Cranberry, ginger and pear chutney sounds wonderful. I'm thinking of using asian pears instead of bosc because they hold up really well in cooking. YUMMY!!

Cook the Book: 'Whole Grains: Every Day, Every Way'

We've been on whole grain bread, brown rice, oatmeal and white whole wheat flour for a few years but it's the other stuff like barley, quinoa and such that my husband won't go for. I just have to find better ways of disguising it. I made quinoa muffins and those were a huge success.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Garrison Confections Ultimate Chocolate Cooler

Hmmm...tough call but I would have to say dark except on the days when I'm craving milk. Honestly, life is too short to limit yourself to one or the other.
