How to Drink Wine When Flying Solo on Business Travel

When I traveled for work I *always* had a travel wine opener in my always-ready-to-travel-kit; that and a wine glass. They don't take up much room but if you fly, be sure to put the wine opener in the check-thru bag. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there is an ice bucket in the room usually which makes it easy for a bottle of wine and ice cubes to co-mingle in a nice, friendly cool manner. I am well past the 'travel for work' and retired real early but I still carry that wine opener with me.

Back in the 80s and early 90s a woman had a problem with men trying to pick them up so this was my way of enjoying the wine before dinner routine.

Like the commercial where the dog keeps yelling Bacon! Bacon! You can make almost anything better with bacon fat.
But, I also love a grilled sirloin with that nice edge of grilled fat. I think I was born with the fat gene 'cause I love to eat that when it's really crispy. My grandfather used to love that part also. The fat police have almost beat that out of me but sometimes. . . .

I Want A Divorce!! ~ Velveeta? Is He For Real??

Heck and darn!! I had to jump through hoops just to tell iz***** (whatever) what to do with her cheese. It took 5 minutes to become a ... member? And then I had to find the post again. Lots of work for this poor old lady. ANYWAY, that big ol' hunk of Velveeta could be just the thing for an art project that requires carving. Maybe a statue of a (mini) 'David' or maybe 'Winged Victory.' After all, you said it yourself, it will last forever! Just be careful that you don't place your statue too close to the fireplace or heater. LOL

Thanks to all for the great discussion of these issues. As a woman traveling alone, I'm worried about safety, too, which is one reason I go for chains in central locations and/or local favorites with established reputations for well-lit, friendly bars with good food. I lug so much crap with me already that the idea of glasses and corkscrews is out of the question, but I would imagine for some they would work!

I do not have a fat phobia. I love veggies flavored with bacon - especially green beans or squash, pork chops fried in bacon grease, pie crust made with lard, LOTS of gravy, full flavor and full fat mac 'n cheese or au gratin potatoes, all kinds of bread eaten with good old butter, potatoes and onions fried in bacon grease, and I could go on for days. Paula Deen's recipes do my tastebuds good and make my tummy happy!!!

Sausage. We butcher / mix our own. I have to add more fat than I think would be necessary.
