Minneapolis: Dull Flavors Trump the Hype at Black Sheep
@pizzablogger, your thoughts are sensible, but in this case, off the mark. I'm a native NYer, transplanted to St. Paul five years ago, and I've sampled most of the pizzerias in the Twin Cities. Most are unremarkable. Many are offensive. Black Sheep is fantastic. I believe our reviewer had a very uncharacteristic visit.
Minneapolis: Dull Flavors Trump the Hype at Black Sheep
You're bananas. I might have to write a rebuttal review.
New Artisan Pizzas from Domino's?
All the pretension of artisan pies, without the excellent quality or taste!

Minneapolis: Dull Flavors Trump the Hype at Black Sheep
@Daniel My family and I stopped in at Black Sheep last night, but alas it was too crowded to wait for a table with a three-yr-old, so it was off to Punch, which was of course as perfect as ever. But that's another show.

Survey: Your Favorite Hometown Pizza
Twin Cities: In St. Paul, it's Punch, a miniscule chain of VPN pizzerias. Get the margherita, DOC, uncut. In Minneapolis, they've got a Punch too, but also try Pizza Nea. The margherita there is nearly as good as Punch's basic pie, and the atmosphere is more adult and romantic.
Ramsey, New Jersey: Excellent Bar Pizza at Kinchley's Tavern
I wish I'd known about Slice and all these bar pie places back when I lived on LI. I grew up thinking Eddie's and Colony Grill were the only ones. Now I'm out here in Minnesota and I can't eat any of them.
The United States of Pizza: Minnesota
(Great list, though. Plenty I haven't tried, and psyched to try 'em.)
The United States of Pizza: Minnesota
I'd add Pino's of Woodbury. It's the closest I've had to a good NYC street slice anywhere near the Twin Cities, and it was on your blog, Aaron, a couple years back.
Daily Slice: Carmine's Original Pizza, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
I wish I were there right the hell now.
Seeking Pizza Correspondents
When you need a man in the Twin Cities, let me know.
Daily Slice: Pizza Box, Greenwich Village
Box is a solid NYC slice, for sure. I always forget, and end up there late with few decent-looking options, and am always pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Maybe I won't forget anymore.
Slice Poll: How Do You Store Your Leftover Pizza?
I do a combo: individually wrap in foil, then place all the slices into a freezer bag.
How to Order a Slice of Pizza in NYC
@ESNY1077 Okay, the straw is probably overkill and debatable, but my god yes, you do wipe the can with a napkin. It's not like we're suspicious people. The tops of these cans are usually pretty nasty to the naked eye.
NYC Pizza Culture: What to Expect
Adam, great piece.
Also, I still want a Slice T-shirt.
Cook the Book: The Good Stuff Cookbook
Whatever my last burger was, unless it sucked, is my favorite. So right now, that's the Blue Door Pub in St Paul. Juicy Lucy, baby. Mmm-mm.
Eddie's Pizza Truck: What to Expect
Wow, disappointing. I can tell you from 35 years of experience, that upskirt is not typical of an Eddie's pie at the New Hyde Park restaurant. I'm the first to admit Eddie's has gotten lazy over the years, and that now Colony is superior, but don't judge the Eddie's name on the truck.
By the way, Eddie's on the Island, though ostensibly a bar, serves mostly families, and most customers do not drink during dinner. Just saying. :)
Pizzaland: The Pizza Place in the 'Sopranos' Opening Credits
Looks to me like a giant bar pie, a la Colony or Eddie's, but bigger.
Mixed Review: Ecco La Pasta Parmesan Pizza Crust
Is this an unstretchable dough? I wonder how different the end result would have been if the roller and dough never met.
This Week's Pizza Poll: What Do You Season Your Slice With?
Always red pepper flakes. On Neapolitan, I drizzle on a little good olive oil if it's available.
Help me keep my pizza dough stretched please
Yes, stretch and wait. Also, in my experience, TJ's crust is terrible. I used to use it, then finally caved and started making my own. (This recipe: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/001199.html )
It's easy, fun as hell, and ALWAYS makes a great crust if the rest is long enough.
Chain Burger Brackets: Burger King vs. Hardee's
Hey, all. If you haven't tried both places, you can always not vote. Just a thought. :)
Chain Burger Brackets: Burger King vs. Hardee's
I can't believe this is so close. BK fails all over the menu. At least Hardee's has excellent fries and portions that will bust your shirt buttons.
Stamford CT: Colony Grill, Awesome Bar-Style Pizza
Adam, glad you finally got up there. Addictive pies, them.
Have you checked out Eddie's yet, out in New Hyde Park? Very similar pies, though I think Colony has kept theirs pure and true over the years, while Eddie's has tended to futz around now and then. (Safe bet the pizza truck they are planning won't be as good, but who knows.)
Openings: Eddie's of New Hyde Park Bringing Its Bar Pizza to the Streets of Midtown/Financial District
@passion4pizza Interesting, and thanks for investigating. I wonder if this has something to do with legal issues back in the 1930s, so their official date of existing as a business has to be 1941. Hm. Anyway, thanks! Next time I'm down there, I'll buy you a bar pie--or three.
Openings: Eddie's of New Hyde Park Bringing Its Bar Pizza to the Streets of Midtown/Financial District
@passion4pizza Not sure where you get your info, but the custom Eddie's clocks hanging in the restaurant (one in the bar and one in the dining room) say "Since 1941." Might be when they started serving the bar pies? Who knows.

Website: http://www.stevebrezenoff.com
Location: Saint Paul, MN
About: Writer and stay-at-home dad
Favorite foods: New York pizza, Neapolitan pizza, Eddie's Pizza (New Hyde Park, Long Island), mac and cheese, perfect burgers
Last bite on earth: Eddie's pizza, without question. And in that one bite I'd cram four slices.
