I agree with HSlater351. The best dessert that is consistenly available is Creme Brulee. The first one I ever had was a long time ago when I was on vacation in Hawaii.

Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
My first cookbook was a (now very old) "Joy of Cooking." I think the second was a paperback -- a Golden Pocket Cookbook, which was quite good and set me back $0.35.
Cook the Book: 'Dishing Up Vermont'
MA - There are so many possibilities, but the most distinctive is Boston Schrod. No puns please.
Cook the Book: 'Bite-Size Desserts'
My two irresistable small treats are (1) Chocolate-covered fruit and (2) Deviled eggs.
Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'
I usually make an omelette with whatever I can find in the refrigerator.
Cook the Book: Easy Gluten-Free Baking
Based upon what I actually bake, it has got to be cornbread. I love to get up early enough to bake cornbread for breakfast
Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
I grew up in the suburbs with all kinds of "curry" dishes -- definitely a far cry from any real Indian dish. It wsa not until we spent a short vacation in London that we were exposed to any real (and excellent) Indian fare.
Cook the Book: 'Canal House Cooking, Vol. 1'
When it's really hot, we find making a couscous salad to be easy and delicious.
Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Pancake Mountain
Popover Pancakes -- aka Dutch Baby pancakes -- filled with a little fruit and dusted with confectioner's sugar
Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling
Perhaps the earliest dish I "helped" to cook was Penuche fudge that my grandfather would make on occasion when he came to visit. I must have been 6 or 7 at the time.
Cook the Book: ''Wichcraft'
For unusal, a personal favorite: (cold) New England Baked Beans with Bacon. For the more timid, (hot) New England Baked Beans with Bacon
Cook the Book: 'Urban Italian'
I don't know if this is a 'twist' but I like to combine colorful, sauteed vegetables with either crisped bacon or crisped pancetta and tossed with pasta. Could be tossed in either a light sauce, so the colors show, or in simple butter/garlic/grated cheese sauce.
Cook the Book: 'Ten'
Back in the 'old days' when you still could get it, sometimes I would get an irresistable urge for a Howard Johnson Tendersweet Fried Clam Roll. Definitely low class, but a fond food memory.
Cook the Book: 'Kneadlessly Simple'
For a bread with strong flavor, I like olive bread; for a more conventional bread, I like oatmeal bread.
Cook the Book: 'On the Line'
There are two fish dishes I like:
1) Baked Cod with buttered bread crumbs
2) Moules a la Mariniere (per Julia Child)
Cook the Book: Martha Stewart's Hors d'Oeuvres Handbook
My wife & I managed to pull off a sit-down dinner for 14 without a hitch in a small house with barely enough room and barely enough chairs.
Cook the Book: 'The Bon Appétit Fast Easy Fresh Cookbook'
A couple of choices:
1) Pasta with Marinara Sauce plus whatever I can find to toss in.
2) Hamburger mixed with sour cream and garlic powder sauteed along with rice and salad
Dinner Tonight: Leek and Potato Soup
I make a similar soup using Kale (minus the hard stems) and potatoes. At the very end I add 1/2 pound of Kielbasa sliced very thin. This adds substance and flavor.
Cook the Book: 'How to Cook Everything, Revised Tenth Anniversary Edition'
I've used lots of his ideas, but one that I use often is his tip about pre-making turkey/chicken gravy in a day or so in advance -- the roux, with stock whisked in, that can be added to pan drippings at the last moment.
Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Devil's Food Dictionary'
Pfeffernuise: lit: ‘Pepper-nose.’ The painful burning sensation in your nose when you inhale too deeply smelling cayenne or other ground peppers. Sometimes erroneously applied to the painful burning sensation in your nose when you inhale other spices.
Spaghetti and meatballs: What you get when a Pastafarian tries to represent the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Cook the Book: 'Martha Stewart's Cooking School'
I've made many of Martha's recipes, but one that is "the most fun" is Severed Fingers -- a cookie for Halloween that is rather starteling when first seen.
