Chinese dishes for The Year of the Rat?
Are there different dishes for the different years?
Thanks for the info.

I prefer to buy my fish from a major supermarket such as A&P, Kings, Whole Foods etc....or from a local fish seller.
My girlfriend just wants to buy the stuff that is frozen in Trader Joes.
I know that almost all fish is immediately frozen on the fishing boats. I live in northern NJ and there aren't any boats nearby selling unfrozen fish.
When it comes to health and flavor...which do you prefer and why? Both issues are equally important.
My gf likes her pickles at room temperature. So, we started having a conversation over dinner last night about whether pickles need to be kept in the refrigerator.
Do they?
Thanks in advance!
Where can I find Dragon Beard candy in New York City?
If you have multiple locations to suggest please also include which ones you have tried and which ones you liked the most.
I am going to Nathan's for hot dogs on Friday.
Over the weekend I will go to the Kutzdown, PA festival and enjoy some Pennsylvania Dutch items.
Sunday maybe some 'cue
I have been to White Manna in Hackensack many times. I really do not understand why people think that the sliders are so outstanding. I like the singles more than the doubles but do not think that either are extrordinary. I would not go out of my way to eat there.
Makanmata: Funny...there is a very mediocre pizzeria in Ridgewood NJ that likes to claim that it is an authentic Pizza Napoletano. One of the pizzerias followers even linked to this thread. Your comment helps to explain why after trying the pizza that it is very mediocre. They are basing their critieria on an association filled with other mediocre pizza makers.
I think the bigger offense in the movie is that after he escaped he only wanted a hamburger, or was it a cheeseburger?, and he ended up eating one from Burger King.
ARGH!
Guess it was convenient. :-p
My fave grilling condiments are olive oil, lemon, black pepper and salt.
my favorite Japanese dish is unagi over rice
I like celery...but if you want to remove it and still have crunch...use cucumbers...I would remove all the seeds and slice it to the size you like
anything frozen...other than ice cream and water
any canned fruit, vegetable, or cheeseburger
margarine
artificial sweeteners
marinara sauce in a jar
sundried tomatoes
no green or red pepper
no "fake" mozzarella cheese
no bacon
no anchovies
I agree that cake and ice cream should never touch!
We did burgers and dogs, but all the sides were with a Mexican flair, as we were with my brother-in-law's family. Beans, rice, Nana's wonderful squash dish with corn and cotija cheese, Papa's homegrown corn on the cob with lime and chile, fresh salsa and guacamole, and my contribution: bacon-wrapped chicken cubes, dredged in a mixture of brown sugar, cayenne and chili powder and baked @400 for 12 minutes...spicy, caramelized goodness.
Ribeye steaks, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob, all off the grill. Gonna get started in an hour or so. (I'm in California - so there!)
Wasn't planned but...I ended up eating 2 1/2 pieces of sweet breads from a local Mexican panaderia, followed by a fresh bagel. :) Very patriotic, no? haha...I crave turkey too for some reason.
Making dinner for my husband and myself: baby back ribs, baked beans, corn bread, cole slaw, and mint-fudge ice cream sandwiches (with homemade mint ice cream courtesy of a David Lebovitz recipe, and double chocolate cookies). I have some sangria soaking in the fridge as well.
Neighbors are bringing over some grilled chicken. I'm making a bunch of different, simple salads and go-withs.
I'm a horrible baker but I'm also making a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It's just about the last thing I would want to eat on a hot July day but it was requested of me, what can I do?
I'm going off of Martha Stewart's recipe for lamb kofta (found on this site), subbing in ground turkey and making it into burgers. For dessert, a simple lemon chess pie recipe I got on Epicurious.
American living in Canada here, also nursing an upset stomach, so no bbq today. But I do want something fun for dinner. Maybe burgers and potato salad if I can drag my sorry tush to the store.
Yesterday (the 3rd) when everyone arrived, we had the traditional North Carolina Beach dinner: steamed shrimp, caprese salad (tomatoes and basil picked from our garden), fresh corn on the cob (husband ate three ears!) and your choice of key lime or blueberry pie. Tonight it will be the elsewhere discussed butterflied BBQ leg of lamb, green salad, new potato salad and chocolate lave cake on the roof as we watch the fireworks in three counties!
Having the flu or similar, I'm doing nothing but sleeping this 4th punctuated with sips of water.
What I'd love to have? Watermelon, huli huli chicken, bulgogi, laulau, rice, and Hawaiian-style macaroni salad (no onions).
Marinated grilled steaks (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy, worcestershire, lemon, dry mustard, garlic) , sauteed zucchini & squash and 4**** chocolate ice cream a la Maida Heater
