My Grandpa (aka The Gup) took us here for clams casino and linguine fra diavolo back 10-15 years ago when it was a high-end red sauce kind of place. Clearly the Bastianich/Battali formula has taken it to wonderful and previously unimaginable places. Now I need to find the opportunity to get up to Portchester. We'll see when that actually happens...
A Cheese You Should Be Eating: Beaufort
I was in Paris last month and a friend made a fondue with beaufort that was out of this world. I was able to pick a big piece up at this incredible fromagerie, Barthélémy, in the 7th, and I've been eating it in small portions ever since. I think I might finish it off right now actually!
Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?
"Egg In A Hole" at my house. Had a girlfriend once whose grandpa called them "Frogs On A Raft." He then takes the toasted hole and while breaking the yolk shouts, "Wreck 'Em"
