Street Food Profiles: The Burger Bus in Santa Barbara, California

Seems like he asked every question except for one (espically in these times) Are you making a profit???

Looks like they are working close to 12 hr days, and when you are paying more for "Higher End" quality products, at the end of the day, "Are you Making a Profit"? Now that this "Roach Coach Trucks" are now all the rage. I would like to know if they are making jingle?

Like the gold rush days of old, the persons that really did well were the merchants that sold supplies to the gold miners. It's probably the same for the Commissary Owners too. I do wish them well, as the restaurant business is a business that you don't own, "Owns You"

As a short comment, I think this is a cool thing and hope that he continues these simply touches to show that he and the First Lady have not forgotten where they come from, with food being a common demonator to bring Americans, espically the simply ordering and eating a cheese burger together. God Bless the President and the First Lady and his Family

New Identity for Jack in the Box

Hey it SUCKS! Bring back Jack and Bring back the "Bonus Jacks" Hamburgers!

And if they think that is suppose to be a smile in the logo? Let me drop down my pants and show them my smile of what I think of their new logo idea. Haven't they learned from there past bone-head Idea's?

I have enjoyed the Burger Maker patties that were recently added to Fresh Direct. The Prime patty especially is delicious.

I also find 6oz the perfect size vs the 8oz and most of the time 8oz burgers are cooked on grills vs flat tops due to their size and flat top cooked burgers just taste better.

@mymymichl Many, myself included prefer 6oz patties. In fact many of NYC's most celebrated burgers - Shake Shack, JG Melon, PJ Clark - serve smaller patties. Personally I find 8oz burger to be just a bit too big. And good luck with your home butchering project, But believe me, buying USDA prime brisket, chuck and short rib is not that cheap. The La Frieda blends might be more of a bargain than you realize.

You can buy ground chuck for cheap, and brisket which you can easily grind, very inexpensively. I bet your own home made combo will be as good and one third the cost of the hootey tootey stuff.

Why do the restaurants serve 8 ounce patties, and LaFrieda only sells the 6 ounce ones? What are we home consumers, chopped liver?

@bobbob I have not tried the retail versions yet but rest assured I will be placing an order and trying them all out. Look for a review in the near future.

This would be wonderful if others start copying it. The only thing I don't care for is the purified oxygen and CO2 treatment. Trader Joes does it to their fresh meat products and I can tell you, it's kept artificially red by the gases. It's great that it extends the shelf life, I guess...

nevermind...the processing is done in KS. i'm really surprised that KY would raise such good beef.

Creekstone Farms is actually in Kansas. I'm from KY and I know there's better beef than whatever we raise.

Video: Tom Hanks Professes Love for In-N-Out on 'The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien'

I think I must have ordered wrong every time I've been to In N Out. I've only ordred on the menu and thought that there was, like, way more other stuff in the burger than meat - I couldn't really taste any beef. This four patty thing might be just the trick.

Umm, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" has been off of the air for over three months. That was from "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien"

And a 4x4 is 4 beef paties, 4 slices of cheese.

not to be judgmental or anything but working in restaurants i noticed that IDIOTS order their burgers well done.

Breaking: More Obama Burgers; Orders Lunch from Five Guys

I am LOVING all the Five Guys Love from the Obama's.

If you'll excuse some overthinking on my behalf, is it possible that the Obama's love of Five Guys is in keeping with some good food politics? I don' t know about how they source their meat, but you always know the exact location of the fresh potatoes the use for their fries.

New Identity for Jack in the Box

To me, the new logo is what JIB's logo would like if it were a sit-down type of ( I use the term loosely) restaurant. Maybe JIB is evolving and moving Jack into the background? Not being mean, but isn't that generally what tends to happen to comatose folks? Just sayin'....ok, I'll go back to my oatmeal.

New Identity for Jack in the Box

Last time I had Jack in the Box was when I was 20 ('87). A bunch of us came back to my parents house in Seal Beach for spring break to execute our plan : "Dosing at Disneyland." We'd already spent about a week at the beach continuously high when we ended up at Jack in the Box in Seal Beach at about 11:00 in the morning. We all ate too many tacos, each ate two tabs, and had one hell of a good time a Disneyland.

This re-branding doesn't seem to support such good-natured fun.
