I would pay thousands of dollars to eat human meat. I'm not kidding. I've always wanted to try it, but I haven't really figured out an affordable way to. Oh well, I will keep on dreaming the impossible dream.

By the way, I bet the meat on the butt tastes the best.

Thai fried rice is amazing.

1. Cook rice in rice cooker or separate pot.
2. Cook one yellow onion until translucent, then add sliced cheap mushrooms.
3. Add cooked rice. Toss in Thai basil ($1 at the Asian market for a whole bundle) and some of that thick stir-fry sauce at the grocery store.

The best thing is that it's totally easy to add more vegetables or chicken or shrimp if necessary. :)

That's a great billboard. I'm sure PETA loves it too.

Cannibalism

Don't think I would.

I've read reports of missionaries/explorers in various places stating that the locals where they were posted/had travelled claimed to have eaten human flesh, and that it was delicious, but. . . you know, it was so common for many cultures (particulary Western ones) to consider others (particularly non-Western ones) to be completely lacking in either sense of humour or humanity, that the locals who allegedly reported this may have been pulling the missionaries'/explorers' legs, without the latter being aware of this.

My point is that there is no evidence we taste good (although most tastes are acquired), and there would be no way of knowing (without having actually having eaten human) that a synthetic product actually had the flavour and consistency of human (and I cannot imagine eating another human being, but then again, I've never been in the sort of situation where I'd need to make this decision). It also seems like the sort of thing Marilyn Manson would go for in a flash (especially if it were called, say, 'Pam', instead of 'SPAM') and make a big production of, which would make the entire act of eating human-like meat kind of embarrassing ;)

I wish one of you folks who is interested in trying human would contact me. Flightlinek (at) hotmail.com. Maybe we can work out some kind of arrangement.

human...its okay as long as you mix it with your mashed potatos and vegies

I'm thinking it'd be a great way for child molesters and cop killers to pay their debt to society. Plus, it would solve that whole "overcrowded prison" quandry.

From Talk

So, here's the thing about people eating folks who have died to survive. Wouldn't the meat be diseased or not good to eat? Like, if cow died of natural causes, we would say it is not fit to eat. I guess in a survival situation its a risky venture no matter what--either you ate someone who died and risk death through disease or you have certain death through starvation.

Unless, of course, the survivor died FROM the accident, or something. Like in a plane crash. I dunno.

From Talk

yikes, no - especially anything with crispy skin, the smell would be impossible to tolerate ... think that would trigger some genetically-based nausia with me, let alone the horrific thought of all this

From Talk

I hear with the recession..that human meat will be the next big trend on menus.

From Talk

Cannibalism

Another thing that totally grosses me out is the idea of meat grown in labs or factories. Or really, anything manufactured like that. Quorn for example makes me queasy just to think about. So definitely no lab-grown synthetic human meat.

From Talk

Cannibalism

I'm too meat squeamish to try any new meat - I've drawn the line at chicken, beef & pork. No bunnies or deers or elk or anything. So, unless I was starving and had no other choice, no I wouldn't try human meat.

From Talk

Cannibalism

What an interesting thread. I would not try human meat out of curiousity, but nor would I try dog or cat meat. I'm sure that if I was starving to death, I would eat it though. I wouldn't try a human-flavored Spam-like product basically because I don't eat that kind of ultra-prepared food regardless of flavoring. Plus, how would I know how accurate their flavor was? Regarding habitual cannibalism, see "kuru," a mad-cow-like disease prevalent among a Fore tribe of Papua New Guinea, which practices ritual cannibalism.

My wife and I have had many conversations about eating our dog in a worst case scenario.

We both think she would taste like mutton.

I have dibbs on the cheeks!

The problem with Soylent Green, is once you know the secret, it's a really boring movie.

From Talk

overw8@ - that's one of my favorite movies of all time... i don't think it's so far fetched..... i remember edward g robinson showing pictures of apples and deer ....

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Sweeney Todd yet... ("with the price of meat what it is when you get it, if you get it...").

From Talk

We used to have a roast beef, roast pork, meatloaf dinner night every once and awhile with friends and we would watch the movies "alive" "soylent green" "The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover" and talk about what humans would really taste like.

From Talk

@overw8 - Or "To Serve Man," the great Twilight Zone ep where we think the aliens are here to help yus but discover their book "To Serve Man" is actually a cookbook.

From Talk

I guess I would eat human flesh if the choice was eat or starve.

I must be old, no one has mentioned the movie Soylent Green: "A tale of Earth in despair in 2022. Natural food like fruits, vegetables, and meat among others are now extinct. Earth is overpopulated and New York City has 40 million starving, poverty stricken people. The only way they survive is with water rations and eating a mysterious food called Soylent. A detective investigates the murder of the president of the Soylent company. The truth he uncovers is more disturbing than the Earth in turmoil when he learns the secret ingredient of Soylent Green." - from imdb.com

i once had a vegetarian restaurant called "the cannibal cafe" ... our
line was "we'd love to have you for dinner"....

From Talk

well...being a former anorexic i know for certain I would never resort to human flesh...but curiousity wise i'm not exactly motivated either.

i did however give friends permission to cannibalize me if we were ever marooned together and i died. it's not like i'm doing anything with me afterwards.

This has to be one of the best Talk topics ever! I've been laughing out loud reading the responses to this post. And eating placenta is soooo not the same as eating human flesh. Please. To answer the question posted: Sure. It's harder for me to consider eating dog over human flesh. This is clearly a problem, I realize...but I probably would hesitate very little if there was a dire need. Out of pure curiosity? Probably no.

That's kinda easy. Usually any kind of simple soup, ex: bean, potato, split pea, cheddar cheese. Pasta with sauce. Any dried beans with ham seasoning, tacos, burritos, shepard's pie, cheeseburger surprise casserole and my favorite, stewed okra with tomatoes.
