Cook the Book: 'New Classic Family Dinners'
My family would be happy if I'd make them chicken and dumplings at least once a week. (And it's so easy!)

Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
When I was small, I used my mother's Betty Crocker cookbook. When I married, she gave me one of my own and I use it still, although a host of other cookbooks have joined it on the bookshelves.
Cook the Book: 'Dishing Up Vermont'
Missouri - fresh fruit like canteloupe, peaches, cherries and apples.
Cook the Book: 'Big Bob Gibson's BBQ Book'
The best barbeque I've ever had was from one of those hole in the wall places kinda' like Bob started with. This man would haul his grills out and cook ribs all day and people came from miles around. There were no tables to sit down, so he wrapped your food up in newspaper for you to take home. This was in Hillsdale, MO, and I can't for the life of me remember the name.
Cook the Book: '100 Best Vegetarian Recipes'
I love to have a variety plateful of roasted vegetables every once in awhile.
Cook the Book: '660 Curries' by Raghavan Iyer
I was in London and a group of us went to dinner with an Indian acquaintance. He ordered a variety of dishes for us and everything was wonderful. I'm a fan of good Indian food, but don't have any good recipes.
Cook the Book: 'Canal House Cooking, Vol. 1'
Sliced tomatoes, mozzerella, and onions with just a little Italian dressing.
Cook the Book: 'Mrs. Rowe's Little Book of Southern Pies'
I have an old Hershey's cookbook that produces marvelous results every time. I make a great chocolate cake with a little strong, black coffee added for flavor.
Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'
Maybe because we don't have a Carl's Jr anywhere near here, I don't get them often enough to tire of them, but I love their burger with barbeque sauce and onion rings (on the burger). (My DH hates them!)
Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'
I don't have a favorite vendor, but the Farmers Market in Bloomington, IN, is marvelous. We stop (and shop mightily) there whenever we visit our daughter.
Cook the Book: 'Rustic Fruit Desserts'
I really love apple pie made with a variety of several apples.
Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling
My grandma made the best biscuits ever. I can make good biscuits, but hers were fantastic.
Cook the Book: 'Bottega Favorita' by Frank Stitt
Our family goes for spagetti and meatballs. Obviously the sauce is better when we use homegrown tomatoes and spices.
Cook the Book: 'Serious Barbecue' by Adam Perry Lang
I actually saw Beer Can Chicken on the menu at a restaurant in the D.C. area a few weeks back, so I guess I can count mine as a culinary success. Hard as it may be to get someone to drink about half a can of beer in order to have the rest for cooking, I've always managed to find someone to take care of that part. It's a fun thing to cook when there are kids around, because they find it hilarious to see a chicken sitting on a can of beer. And it's always tender and tasty, so it's one of my favorite barbeque dishes to prepare.
Cook the Book: 'Ten'
This isn't very exotic, but after living in So. California for a couple of years, every time I get out there now I have to go to Carl's Jr. for a burger. My CA friends tolerate me, but think I'm crazy.
Cook the Book: 'Almost Meatless'
Chicken Fried Rice - heavy on the veggies and light on the chicken.
Cook the Book: The Essence of Chocolate
Impossible to choose. Maybe my grandmother's chocolate cream pie, or the chocolate creme brulee at a lovely little restaurant in Los Angeles, or a Death by Chocolate cake my friend makes, or . . . gosh, I don't know. If it's choclate, I love it.
Cook the Book: 'Osteria'
Shepard's Pie is a wonderful cold weather comfort food.

The burger they now call Black Label
Was once thought to be just a fable,
But La Frieda said "No,

And delivered them right to our table.
