You're the on that sounds like the pretentious snob...I don't need to know your name and I don't want to be your friend...I am there for a meal. As for the gum...if they expect you to put in your hand, then you have the right to say no, and bring them a plate to put it on. Pretty simple I'd say!
As to your last comment: "If you're reasonably nice and leave a reasonably nice tip, you're good by me." Wow, everyone goes to a restraurant and is seriously concerned about what the waiter thinks of they...as long as they leave a good tip. I leave a tip based on the service and the food! So, I say do your job, stut up and you will get a good tip..or quit.

I have heard, due to hundreds of complaints, that Hershey's is re thinking using veg. oil.
Also, in recent months, the price of veg. oil has doubled...how much more expensive is cocoa butter than veg. oil?

There are thousands of people that think sandra lee and her so called cooking show is a joke...and it is. Like a lot of people, I looked at her God awful list of things she threw together...canned pie filling in the center of a store bought angel food cake and corn nuts on to of canned frosting and pop corn and topped off with big ass candles...my only suggestion id to replace the candles with dynamite!
Sorry to bad mouth your cooking idol, but she sucks...and so does food tv...haven't watched their disappointing network in years...thankfully, there are great cooking shows on PBS!
As far as taking liberties with dish names..I couldn't agree more.
A good example would be Caesar Salad...listed on a menu and pasted off as lettuce (and not even romaine!) covered in some awful dressing...sometimes ranch...topped with a few plain pieces of dried bread cubes and maybe a little grated cheese...obviously no Parmesan

It seems most people have forgotten that PIZZA is ITALIAN...no kimchi...no indian pizza...my God what a nightmare, but the garlic can stay...no mexican pizza...no jewish pizza...Italian sausage...yes...tofu...no.
When it comes to pizza, like most things, I am a purist. Just keep it real, as God intended:)
And, finally a big NO to California style pizza...with buffalo chicken and mexican topping and the rest of the garbage that they throw on it...it looks like someone threw up on it!

I notice that QVC no longer has any of Paula Deen's cast iron cookware available at this time. Probably for the reason mentioned. And they certainly were made in China. Her choice of a manufacturer for the cast iron was a poor one. Just like her choice for her favorite President Jimmy Carter.

I won't buy any celebrity-endorsed product for the endorsement. When we moved to a fully-furnished home temporarily, a few months ago, I couldn't live with the lightweight scratched teflon frying pan they had. It had cancer written all over it. So the best pan Wal-Mart had was a copper sandwich teflon pan with, you guessed it, Paula Deen's name on it. It's served us well the past few months. When I buy cast iron, it's Lodge. btw, my husband keeps laughing at me and my "Paula Deen" pan! All because 98% of our lives, including my kitchen, is in storage 1,500 miles away! Dee

I am a big fan of all the Mars candies. Look at the label. Says sugar then cocoa butter on almost every one of them from M&M's to Snickers and Dove. I noticed that Hershey's now hides the ingredients under the flap on most of their items. Also the candy is made in the US. Hershey's is not. They just announced today that they are closing the Scharfenberger and Joseph Schmidt plants in SF and Berkely and firing everyone. Will probably move it to China or wherever, like all their other "chocolate"

ALthough plain cheese is always appreciated, I make 2 special pizzas that my family enjoys. One is buffalo wing chicken with pepper jack cheese,and the other is smoked mozz with sweet sausage and roasted red peppers.

Feta cheese with tomatoes fresh out of the garden and kalamata olives sprinkled over a round of dough brushed with olive oil, minced garlic, greek oregano and a thin layer of mozzarella cheese is one of my favorite summer time pies. Even better when it's done on the grill.

No pepperone, love it uncooked with cheese & crackers or antipasto, but not on pizza, overpowers everything else. Same thing with bacon. Good sausage meat or plain cheese for me. And don't even start with those cowpies from Chicago!

have you had the creme brulee chocolate bar... *faints* i love anything with caramel and chocolate. Yummmmmmmmmm I remember the first time i have Dove dark, i didnt even realise they were dark. Phew! Lotsa posts. I'm afraid I've never been particularly fond of pepperoni...I don't hate it, but I wouldn't choose it. Go-to favorite? A combo of cheeses, including provolone and Cheddar with caramelized onions. I have had a fabulous Thai pizza, and by that I mean traditional in form (shape, size of crust, laying down of toppings, etc.) but Thai in flavors (chicken, purple basil, a bit of peanutty flavor, coconutty flavor, a base sauce that'll blow the top of your head off). That was fabulous...could only eat about a slice and a half but for that many bites, it was intoxicating.

Whenever I try a new pizza place, I always order "The house special" because I want to see that place's idea of what the ideal pie is.
It is never a plain cheese or pepperoni pie, in my experience.
I almost never order sausage, because I love it and most places use crap.
My favorite place serves a pie with tons of ingredients and I savor every bite for the depth of flavors.

I love dove milk chocolates, and the dark chocolates for that matter. It's very smooth and rich. We always keep a couple bags of the morsels in the freezer and panic ensues if there's only 1/2 a bag left.
Also, I discovered a wonderful thing while I was at Rite Aid getting my Lindt truffles :) Lindt has a chocolate bar made of 70% cacao with chocolate mousse and cherry-chili filling. Oh. My. God.

try leftover pizza. i have been making this for years. whatever your favorite pizza. scrape the toppings off, heat, and add to 3 beaten eggs. add cheese on top. the best omelette ever. enjoy
