BAKED! BAKED! AND MORE BAKED!
whoops just saw you posted in w. or e. village....the above is on 14th and 1st.
I love blind tiger on bleeker and barrow street ale house in w. vill
croxley ales and croc lounge for e. vill
hope this helps!
For the best deal in town -
crocodile lounge (or is it alligator) both are good! Anyways, they have a decent bar selection on tap, plenty of games (skee ball anyone?) and you get a free pizza with every beer/drink purchase. Can't beat that with a stick :)
warm, crusty bread out of the oven, avocado, blueberries, rib eye or roasted chicken, white wine, croque madame or brownies
japanese egg salad? Definitely have to put that on my list to try!
@savtashayna - SERIOUSLY. so silly.
@Amandarama - i listed 2 recipes that i like for when i make it at home. did you read that before posting your comment?
@chef robert - well if you read my original posting, you'd see that i was asking fellow new yorkers where they go for it for lunch.
nothing more. nothing less. I wasn't asking for anyone's opinion on what i like to get for lunch.
hmmm well this is a NYC specific food board you are on. just saying.
which gourmet grocer did you work at?
hmmm then i guess i feel bad for you guys that you don't have the quality of gourmet grocers that we do here in manhattan. most people don't have the energy/time/kitchen space to be whipping up something that you can get fairly well made at the local citarella/gourmet grocer/whole foods/fairway.
speaking of which all this talk is making me want...an egg salad on rye with arugula...and a bag of terra chips. YUM!
awesome thanks for the advice!
See this is where you and I differ @dbcurrie - you can't imagine walking to the local market/specialty shop and getting an egg salad sandwich during your lunch break and I can't imagine staying up all night on the 'serious eats blog' waiting for someone to answer you back. Really - 3:45 a.m.? No wonder you have no issue with making it at home everytime you want an egg salad. Clearly you have a lot of time on your hands.
@dbcurrie - wow, I can't imagine being so sheltered.
all sound so good! especially spread on wise potato chips!!
101 Cookbooks and Martha Stewart both have great variations on my beloved lunch standby.

i'm looking for the perfect thing to bring for next week's office party...the company is ordering pizza from fornino in williamsburg so it has to be something that will compliment brick oven pizza....
i was thinking banana pudding w/ nilla wafers
ooey gooey double chocolate bars
or if i went out the night before getting kumquats from fairway.
Does anyone have any good picks????????
thank you!!
Planning a much needed and overdue vacation in February - where should we go? I like everything too and the more authentic, local, the better. However some over the top places will be visited also. I have a LP but wanted to know what you guys thought.
many thanks!
Where do you get yours?
My favorite is at Garden Market in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Lots of dill and I like that the eggs are sliced, not crumbled (or scrambled looking)
..JDM hasn't favorited a post yet.
Muenster on Rye and lots of really good, salty, butter.
