Cuffins? Mupcakes?
In today's NYT, Melissa Clark declared that muffins are "sweet little cakes" no different from cupcakes. I disagree. My ideal muffin is more on the dour side, never iced, and often has additions like nuts, fruit, and so on. They can also be split, toasted and buttered. What do you think? I have a feeling we might see a regional and/or generational split here.
Why do people think Whole Foods is so expensive?
I don't understand why people are always complaining about Whole Foods?
I have a whole list of things that are cheaper there then at other Stores.
Feta Cheese( same price as others and 100 times better)
All the whole food brand products
sour cream, buttermilk
they have a daily meat and poultry special: many times the beef is really cheap , chicken is on sale a lot.
What do you get at Whole Foods and can any store compare? Please don't say Trader Joes because the quality does not even compare to Whole Foods in my opinion.
Beef cooked chinese style
Why is it that when I cook beef it doesn't taste like authentic? It's silly I know but it tastes too beefy. Can someone please tell me where i'm going wrong.

Grief Food
Okay, so in the interest of full disclosure, I am going through a rough time right now. In the span of a single day I lost a close friend to breast cancer and found out that my grandmother wasn't doing well, either. I spent the weekend trying to be with her (it's a long drive away — close to Canada), and I cannot even attend my friend's funeral, because tickets to the UK at the last minute are too expensive.
That being said, I also have no appetite, and I was hoping that someone might have some ideas for something that might appeal to me and be comforting. Right now, everything looks about as appetizing as cardboard. I would love to hear any suggestions...
Starbucks V Dunkin' Donuts
After watching the Food Network special last night about the "Java Giants" of these two companies, I wanted to know which one you prefer?
Actually, we don't have any more Dunkin' Donuts where I am, but even the new coffee blend from Starbucks tastes like jet fuel to me. I still prefer the good, old-fashioned brown water (call me crazy) that you can get at places like Perkins, IHOP, Village Inn and other places that serve cold pancakes and individual servings of SMuckers grape jelly.
So, which one is better, and why? Or is there, like me, a third option that you prefer?
wine soaked strawberries for kids
thought I would pass this along for those with kids or anyone who can't have alcohol. I love to soak my strawberries in red wine to bring out all the wonderful flavors, but since I can't have alcohol at this time I asked my Dr. about the alcohol free wines available at most grocery stores. I was concerned because they do have a little alcohol. To make a long story short, the amount of alcohol is no more than you would find absorbed with mouthwash. So while I dont actually drink that stuff by preference, if you like wine in your food and have been holding back because of children in the house, feel free. Although, I wouldnt recomend using it for anything that is cooked, the flavor isnt bad but I personally wouldnt want it concentrated.
