Paloma + Sangria? Need advice

When it comes to tequila drinks I like Palomas, and I've been wondering recently about mixing the recipe with that of sangria, but I don't know anything about what kind of (lower-to-mid-range) red wine might be ideal for it. I've got the other ingredients down, roughly, (Camarena reposado, for starters, plus the grapefruit soda, the lime juice, citrus fruits, and maybe cherries), but that's the hole in my harebrained summer scheme.

Advice? Any other tips are welcome, too.
