Okay, this has bugged me for a few months, and I'm hoping some of you might understand/ be able to share similar stories. Over this academic year, my college cafeteria has been trying to serve what they call pho. Problem is, this soup is little more than a cup of beef or vegetable broth with bowls of wide noodles and a few vegetable to be added in. Worse, no one here seems capable of pronouncing pho correctly, much less make it. Growing up in St. Paul, where there is a large Vietnamese/Hmong population, this drives me up the wall. Okay, rant done, any other baffling food ignorance stories out there?
