Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
I don't know what it is about breakfast foods, but I can eat them anytime of day, all day and consider it a win. If you offer me crispy-edged, fluffy-middled pancakes at 10 am, 2 pm, 7 pm, or 3 am, I will gobble them down straightaway. The same goes for eggs in all their glorious forms, waffles, sticky buns, quick breads, cereal, and fruit. Perhaps part of their lure to me is the simplicity in preparation - which counts for something when your days are full.
Bonnie Benwick, of The Washington Post, reviews the Breakfast for Dinner: Recipes for Frittata Florentine, Huevos Rancheros, Sunny-Side-Up Burgers, and More! cookbook and proclaims it to be promising. Between the laid-back recipes, exceptional photography and the notion that "breakfast for dinner will never get old", Benwick is correct in deeming it a win for eaters. Do you eat breakfast for dinner? What are your favorite recipes to brunch, lunch, and sup with?
