What food items an overweight lady should avoid and prefer?

My sister is a young independent working lady. She is an overweight and hardly found any time to go to a gym for exercise. I want to suggest her healthy diet which could help her to shed some weight. What food items she should strictly stay away from and include in her daily food chart so as to avoid any furthermore weight gain.
