Weekend Cook and Tell: Delighting in Downton Abbey

Yes, it's true. Even a few of us have gotten sucked into Downton Abbey. Frankly, it's not difficult. And the writers and set stylists have made it easy to lure viewers into wishing we could sit beside the family at dinner. Visions of aspic, puddings, and cakes dance in our heads. We welcome any show that puts British cuisine in the spotlight and pushes us to research more plates.
Becky Krystal, of The Washington Post, writes on the fascination with food in Downton Abbey. Pinterest boards, e-books, and entire blogs have been created around the subject. Special attention has been paid to weaving food into the plot of the show and in properly representing the historic details of dishes and settings. Krystal also notes that the show has brought the focus back to the British. So, what British bites have taken your heart?
