Whether you were a fan of Mike's or Modern, grab a cannolo and remember Michael Mercogliano. Native Bostonians and tourists alike have taken sides, but even Modern Pastry devotees know that Mike's, simply by existing as competition, made both bakeries better.

Serious Eats got in on the question and chose Modern in a squeaker, but had kudos for Mike's as well.
