Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Sandy has thrown us all for a loop. For those in the storm, emergency essentials became just that - essential. For those not in the storm, much thought was suddenly given to the "what if I were in that situation?" Regardless of what group you fall in, every so often we find ourselves improvising in the kitchen.
This week's Weekend Cook and Tell is inspired by lemonfair's Talk thread, "Did you lay in food for the storm?" What did you eat during Frankenstorm's reign? Have you ever found yourself in a situation without power or the comforts of modern day living and ad libbing your meals? Was this a time to bake/cook everything that required refrigeration pre-storm? We want your best hobo or MacGyver'esque dishes that get you through those less than ideal times.
