Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
For many, back to school has just begun. And for the rest of us, summer is coming to a close, which signals less beach time and more indoor time. With weekdays being busier than the ends, do you find yourself planning out meals or utilizing go-to recipes to save you time?
Stephanie Witt Sedgwick, of The Washington Post, thought she was a whiz at throwing together meals without a plan. It took a literal meltdown (of her refrigerator contents) to realize perhaps she relied on a plan not on paper but in her head.
We all have them; our go-to dishes in a pinch. Do you cook ahead for the week? Grocery shop with a meal plan in mind? Or do you keep a catalog (virtual, mental, physical) of dishes that can be made quickly? Either way, we want to know - what are your meals prepared in a pinch?
Share your favorite quick eats on Photograzing (make sure to include "Weekend Cook and Tell" in your submission title) and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. You can now also pin your creation on your Pinterest board as well. Please use the hashtag, #cookandtell, and tag us, @Serious Eats in your pin's text.
We'll post a round-up of your cooking on the quick ideas, recipes, and experiences the following Wednesday, September 12th.
