The cold is creeping up on us and I'm starting to crave soup every week. Serious Eaters, do you prefer your eat your soup in a bowl or drink it in a mug? Does your preference depend on the type of soup?

For me, I enjoy bean and lentil soups in a mug but spoon clear soups like miso or egg drop from a small bowl. Savory vegetable soups I prefer in a big bowl with toast crammed in on the side.

I think it's because my legume soups tend to be muddy-colored and not that attractive, while bowls display the charms of prettier soups.
